Hi guys,

Sorry but this is going to sound like a stupid question!

How do you wash the Z3 roadster? Can you go through the car wash drive through machines with the soft-top or will it cause damage?

Thanks in advance.

Jack

You can do that but you will get very wet!

You can, but I wouldn't. Depends on;

1. Are you confident that you are entirely leak free
2. How well you like to keep your paint.

Even the best car washes are aggressive compared to a hand wash.

Sponges are the work of the devil as they just slide grit around your paint work. A good fibre Mitt with warm water after a blathering of snow foam then toweled down by a fibre towel.

If you are not fussed hot soapy water and a fibre mit and shamy will do.

Oh :welcome:to the forum from West Cumbria

As said a big no no my zed doesn't leak but would never subject it to that.
The brushes are too harsh and micro scratch paint badly.
A good hand wash will be just fine

I would never use one of those, likely to rip bits off and kill your paintwork. :(

Always do your own work. The only person scratching the paint is me, and I'll do my damnedest to prevent it

Oh that’s a shame.

Thank you for the offer anyway, very kind of you :)
@Lee said he had some contacts in Basingstoke to maybe arrange a detailing day but I guess that's still to far for you?

Yeah sorry BMBabe a little to far unfortunately, plus I’m traveling to Hong Kong for work next week so will be difficult to find the time next couple months.

I’ll get off my arse and do it myself, plus I need to burn off some xmas fat!!

Agree with all the above comments. Only i am allowed to do any washing or polishing on the Zed. I will never take it to a car wash of any sort as all they do is result in leaving marks all over the paint work.
It also gives you great satisfaction to know you have done a good job.
