Hi Jack and welcome from Oxfordshire. You might find this thread interesting http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=4637 and the bug gets worse as you read more on that site. For winter I’ve usually got a good coat of wax on before and just use the jet washer with a snow foam lance and ph neutral snow foam as a soaker and rinse off, a good clean of the wheel arches and use the two bucket method above then come spring a full detail which would be best by removing the wheel arches and sills to remove build up of crud and a top up wax oil treatment which gets repeated late autum in prep for winter. Usual plan but my baby has been mostly living under cover as I work away from home but next years a tlc year.

Get a hardtop and do it, never had any problems with the paint work on the car.

Now that looks like a good car wash and the important part is that the car is jet washed before it go's in meaning that the brushes are not impregnated with grit, Oh I quite like the chick at the end giving the console a blow job :D

OK, notice any marks on my silver Weissman hardtop before you got it resprayed black to match your car?
My car had been going through the car wash for years but when the hardtop came off (not very often) I washed the car by hand at work using a high pressure fire hose.

Meanwhile, back in the real world. I wonder how much that treatment costs, won't be cheap.
25 Euro a shot ....

Only did this once or twice a year, after the car was washed and dry, went through the high pressure polish booth and that stuff gets into every orifice.
Car looked great when you came out the other end ....

Cost, 30 Euro.

You can, but I wouldn't. Depends on;

1. Are you confident that you are entirely leak free
2. How well you like to keep your paint.

Even the best car washes are aggressive compared to a hand wash.

Sponges are the work of the devil as they just slide grit around your paint work. A good fibre Mitt with warm water after a blathering of snow foam then toweled down by a fibre towel.

If you are not fussed hot soapy water and a fibre mit and shamy will do.

Oh :welcome:to the forum from West Cumbria
Using Valet Pro - PH Neutral Snow Foam followed by Megs Gold but have always avoiding snow going on the soft top ---- can snow be used on the soft top?

As always you have a few choices.

1. £5 Polish / Romanian car wash

Quick and easy but in my experience a terrible result. Plus they use super strong truckwash which isnt great for your paint. They also use super strong alloy cleaner too.

2. Hand wash at home.

Takes longer but gives you the satisfaction of a job well done. Also helps you get to know your car and see first signs of corrosion or other preventative maintenance that might be needed.

3. Automatic car wash

Only use this if you hate your car and don't want it to be 100% clean

@BMBabe, better ask what David had been doing with it after he came over here to pick it up, was not a mark on it.
Think he owned it for a couple years before he sold it on to you.

This is when he left my place on his way home.

Once witnessed someone try using a commercial pressure washer inside a Hardtop long wheel base LR, I leave you to imagine results
