So I've found myself the Zed I was looking for providing all is as described, downside is I've got to wait till the end of the month to see/collect it:bashhead:.

So In the meantime I'm looking at little bits n bobs to get for when it comes so I've got things to do with it as soon as I get it home:computer:.

Looking at the black & white carbon effect BMW badges, but not seen any pics of them on the car....does anyone have these?

Also, can someone recommend the best oil, spark plugs, and filters to get so I can get a service done when I get her home (2.2cc)

I've got all the stuff to clean and restore the hood, so that will be one of the fist jobs I'll be doing along with a full paint decon, machine polish, glaze and wax:detailing:, and an interior detail.

I can't wait :coolsteer)

Are you inspecting and testing the car before committing to purchase?

Don't go mad on the roof, wash and hoover is all you need to do. Carbon style badges on my old Z3.

Tony.
Thanks t-tony.
Nice looking car indeed. The carbon badge look nice, I think with my car being black with the chrome trim it will look good.
The plan with the roof is to give it a good clean, re-dye black and seal with the repellent all from Renovo. I highly rate the Renovo stuff and when applied correctly the finish and water beading is superb.

Yes, I won't be parting with my hard borrowed money without giving the car a good look over and test drive, plus I'll be taking a friend who's in the car trade with me to look as well
Hope all goes well for you!

Btw @t-tony did you paint your calipers yourself or where they done professionally?
I did them myself mate, likewise the ones on my Z4. A project done during February this year.

Congratulations on the upcoming purchase. Lets hope everything is right for you. I used the Renovo on our Z4 roof and made it a lot better. Although now it could do with being done again.
Reference Plugs and Filters just make sure you get quality ones not the cheaper ones.
What polishing kit will you use with the machine polisher and is it a rotary or DA Polisher. The BMW Paint is rock hard and you will need a really good cutting compound if it is full of swirls

Also try eurocarparts for the oil. Regarding the oil filter get one from BMW. My was £11 and came with all the washers and sump nut washer

It's a DA I'll be using, as to what products, I'll have to see the paint first before I decide!
Hopefully it's not too bad but in my experience pretty much every black car has swirl unless the owner takes extra care and knows what they are doing.
The plan is to get good plugs ect...any reccomendations?

Any of the name brand products are good but I would use the HD Speed to save time probably on an orange pad. Research that product. Of course do a proper wash then full clay and use proper detail spray for lube. The HD Speed, wipe then wax.

I might have a set of carbon badges if I can find them, I bought a set, fitted them and removed them as they where not to my taste, also did my caliper recently, jury is still out though, still not sure that they go ok against the body colour

The jury have come back with a 'thumbs up'
Verdict on the calipers.
I think they yellow goes well with the blue.

If you do have the carbon badges let me know, if not they are abvailablenon gumtree.

Cheers

So I have a little dilemma...

Getting impatient and really want to go see/collect this car so I Contacted the seller for an estimated date. He works away and home only one day a week and said it's likely 2-3 weeks before he will have chance to fit the new rear window and MOT the car :bashhead:

Its his wife's car but she got a new Jag last year so the Zed has been garaged for the best part of 12 mths.

He seems genuine so I asked if he would rather wait for the 2-3 weeks to get things sorted before selling or if he would like to do a deal for me to take it now, without the MOT and the new window and come to a deal on the price, to which he replied he would be happy to do a deal as it would save him doing it, and agreed to knock the price down a further £125 to cover MOT and time to fit the window.
It was advertised as "will have 12mths MOT and new window fitted as the current one has gone brittle" so it seems he had every intention of doing it before sale.

So, what to do???

Do I wait and get the car when the outstanding jobs are done, or take it now for the slightly reduced price?
Do I risk taking it now and finding it needs work to pass the MOT which may cost more than the reduction or wait and risk someone else coming and taking it off his hands in the next 3 weeks....plus the wait is killing me!?

From the pics & description it's a nice car, engine that I want (2.2) and a colour I'm happy with, plus it sounds like it's coming from a reasonably cared for home AND it's one of the few I've come across in my budget.
I'm leaning towards taking it now (subject to inspection & test drive)
Passed MOT last time with advisories for brakepipes slightly corroded and that's it, but that MOT expired a year ago and has been garaged since and just turned over a couple of times a week.
