This is a real eye opener.......

I was thinking of the amount of time I spend working on my car......and decided although its taking me ages, its far cheaper than a garage doing it. ( plus I do learn about the car....and some of it I even remember!!!!=))=))=)))

For those that put their cars in the hands of Lee, Gaz , Trev and Paul at Zedshed HQ.....

Their turn round on refurbs is approx 6 hrs on a Saturday, anything from 4 - 8 days. With 4 people working ...
So if you convert that to 6 x 4 x 4 x £110 ( BMW hourly rate...and these guys are better than BMW ‘Technicians’ )

4 days = £ 10560.00

But a lot take longer....

8 days. = £ 21120.00

And thats just Labour costs!!!

I think that anyone taking putting their car in the hands of the Zedshed HQ guys is getting great value for money!!!!!!

It really gives some indication on what we as forum members get from the people that run the Zedsheds.

Having said that I need my shut lines need to be done at some point and will be looking for discount =))=))=))

Very good point, defo mega value at the Zedshed

In your defence, as I recall you are in the royal town of Bognor.

That surelycomes at a massive premium according to this prestigious tourism video I happened across yesterday featuring Bognor Regis

So how does the Zedshed work, I love looking at the threads bringing back the driving experience but always been too polite to ask!

Send any one of us or even people linked to the shed a PM or email and we are all happy to help.

Every car is slightly different to build and everyone's budgets differ. Plus finding some of the parts now is becoming difficult.

BMW Hardwoods by us is £178 an hour, they now do 15min slots for labour.

The amount of time I spend spannering on my own car is a tiny fraction of everyone else's cars! :bag:

Sorry I missed this Lee, when my wife decides if she’s keeping the Z3 or getting something a little more practical! Lads off down under for work for a year so that will free up his Z4 and allow time to do some major work on the 3.

I remember in late 90's they use to have 5min segments

They still do, unless BMW have done some drastic reworking of how they operate. I used to have the app. It may be on my other computer. Every job is broken down by BMW and allocated a certain number of FRUs. Each FRU is supposed to be 5 minutes.

FRU means something Repair Unit, I think.
