If you cant get OEM I think its a bloody good solution you have got there.....
Maybe you could put some kind of plastic cover on the outside nut?

thats the plan.plastic cover.. i was going to try an acorn nut but there not enough room theres so much frame work when you put the roof up it touches.. i think my brackets should be a bit further forward...
good though.... i dont have to straighten my hair every nite now... just wash and blow dry hehe
mk3 bracket a bit stronger and now with quick release..... at least i can take it off quickly now if i need to and i can fold it flat with roof up...
