Archived Track day for the Z

Been outside and checked the zed ready for tomorrow, oil, water, brake fluid etc.
Also took the air filter out, which had been in for about 15k miles. It's a K+N panel filter in the standard air box, gave it a rattle and was surprised how much debris came out, bits of crispy leaves and dead bugs :yuck:.

Hope you have a great day weathers good up here hope it stays dry.
Unfortunately i cannot get her in doors has other ideas
Enjoy:racecar:

Had a great day - but did not start well.

The morning we must have had about 4 re-starts - peeps spinning off

It was great to meet @Bozzy and @Mint - and thank goodness bozzy did not over take me - lol

Well my driving improved - constantly hitting 1:29 - 1:32 dependant on traffic - but still improvements to be made.

Quite a few peeps were suppressed with the little 2 ltr - one been an BMW compact with an 2.8 engine and a Evo with 380 bhp - who I was playing with and there was nothing init.

Learnt a lot about driving technique and had to re-lean - which i was "tailbraking"

Even an M3's were comparable to Z

And thank you @Bozzy you did not make it easy for me to overtake - you had some nice lines

Well - I noticed two things - my speed through corners was higher - but i was loosing out on top end. As I had a passenger and my car does suffer from weight as its a 2 ltr - as displacement really helps - so todays outing is comparible to the Z3 - I might be able to challenge the Z4m in a few years time

Your top end was not too bad, I barely hit 100mph in the Z3, your line around the track was noticeable different to your first video. How did you find having an instructor for the day?

Best Mod for £250 - completely changed my driving style

In my previous day at donnington - my top speed on the straights was higher - but exit speeds were lower

Thanks for posting the videos Q,quite pleased with my lines there :).
Just been looking at some photos that Sara took, can't believe how much body roll is going on with my zed :wideyed:.
@Mint was my copilot in that vid,we waved to you as I slowed down to let you past, that little 2 litre of yours seems a bit asthmatic ;).

Sounds like you enjoyed the day Steve?

Hi Brian, yes really enjoyed it thanks :).
The car performed very well indeed, just a problem with brakes after 5 laps or so,juddering through the steering wheel for some reason under heavyish braking .
Had an instructor session straight after lunch time,he was excellent and improved lines through corners etc,Well worth £20.
It was a bit unnerving at first with all the track prepped cars buzzing around and some drivers had very little respect for others it seemed.
Overall good value for money as track day prices go.

I know what you mean when you say it can be unnerving, it's a total assault on the senses at first.

Shame about the brakes, sounds like a bit of pad transfer, they should sort themselves out.

Really pleased you enjoyed it.

A few pics from my phone.
Just after arrival and before the safety briefing, had the roof down all day after this.

Eventually will load the pics from the slr onto the lap top and upload some.

First of all huge thanks to Steve (@Bozzy) for allowing me to slow him down by being copilot for a fair few laps. Really enjoyed it and has whetted my appetite to have a go again myself. It is totally different as a passenger, for one you have nothing to hold onto, unlike the driver. That's a brilliant video Q (@Twin Turbo), I knew Steve's car was leaning into the corners quite a bit but now seeing it from behind I think he's rolling rather than leaning=)). I smell a suspension upgrade on the wind:whistle:
Thanks for the invite back for a coffee Steve, very welcome to get in the warm and out of the wind. I'll post some photos later:whistle:
