Event Torksey Lock Cruise and Lunch. 2023. September 10th.

A big thank you to Tony and Shirl for organising a great day, our first time on any trip out, nice friendly people from far and wide.
Thanks to Dave for looking after group 4, we even had a bit longer trip than the others Pete & Pat

Just home and sipping a cup of tea. We’ve driven through torrential rain at 17 mph, seen debris from trees covering the road, just like Armageddon.
A big thanks to Tony and Shirl for organising a perfect Zed day out, even if Yocky did turn up in an F type Jag, and one team was lead by a Lotus. Shirl’s chocolate chip cookies are to die for and recommended for all future cruises.
Perhaps the best treat of all was catching up with all the people we’ve missed for the last four years and meeting a few new ones as well.

320mls round trip today including Tony’s 60ml fab route around lots of out the way places near Leicester.
up at 04.45 to be on the road for 05.40 to arrive at Tony’s for 08.15 back home for 18.25.
Great to see some old friends and great to meet new ones. Lovely Lotus (aka Toby) bringing up the rear of group one was a reminder of days gone by on previous outings in t-Tony’s Northern Shed area. We also had a surprise F type jag (aka Yorky) running with a group. Think we can all pat ourselves on the back knowing Z-less ( old members ) enthusiasts are welcomed on these trips showing it’s as much a people thing rather than an out and out Z car thing. Thank you Tony and Shirl for making us all feel at home in your next door field. (Did miss the Lake Fish though.)
Only two (as far as I’m aware) good looking southern boys turned up, Mazza and myself but must admit the northerners didn’t look that bad with their caps, beards and sun glasses on. Lmao………………………………………………………….……(and
No!! You can’t throw me in the lake next trip cos I can’t swim) lmfao

This Northerner would like to thank ttony and Shirley for organising today's outing and get together with like minded enthusiastic Zedders, we had a fantastic day helped by the kind weather.
It was a pleasure for us to meet so many nice people and we look forward to returning next year, Tony and Shirl you can count us for 2024,

Anyone staying in the area of 'Willingham by Stow', I highly recommend the fox and Hounds for excellent accommodation and food....!

We would like to add our thanks to Tony and Shirl for hosting such a pleasant event. We both enjoyed it very much. As for Bertie I can guarantee that he has enjoyed himself getting all the fuss from people who met him. For him a Z is the best way to travel.

After a quick tidy up, 40 winks and a cuppa we set off back round some of the route to collect the markers (all still there AND pointing the right way too). Got back about 7.30 and then it was my turn at the stove. We were pretty hungry.

The day started at the White Swan as per.

First stop at Wharton Hill lay-by.

Then onwards finishing at The Woodcocks for lunch.

Cars parked under the trees and I only spotted one targeted by a bird and the shade of the trees was really welcome as we chatted before heading back to the Shed.

Later back at the field Alex voted John's Lovely Dakar Z3 as best car, a very close thing with Denise's E89 Z4.
Shirl had baked a load of chocolate cookies which went down very well. They were baked with a carrier bag full of "Truffles" which came home with us from Florida (they may well be on the next shopping list!)
If its as hot next year well get more water.I think there were only a couple of bottles left.
Big thanks to all of our group leaders first of all, Paul and Jaquie, Denise and Keith, Dave and Mue and finally Alex. It couldn't happen without you guys.
I have to thank Matt and his staff at The Woodcocks for feeding us all very well and in a timely fashion too.
Then, I can only marvel at the distances some of you travelled to share this fun day out. So a really heartfelt THANK YOU to each and everyone of you because after all it's you who make the day what it is.
As for the weather, well Grumps did it right again, scorching hot and the rain although spitting about as you all left after the last car went through the gate it started to really rain. Timing or what?

Keep your eyes peeled after Christmas for a date for Torksey Lock 2024.

Great to catch up with old friends and to meet some more like minded folks, all in all a great day.

Grumps seemed to have sorted the weather, even though he didnt make an appearance.

@Toby My Z is the last one in this group and after we got lined up for photo shoot I saw this Lotus pull up behind me. I Immediately ran back to apologise to the young driver for blocking the road and explained the verge is quite capable of taking his weight if he’d like to go through. His reply was “ it’s no probs I’d rather like to be in the shot and when you all decide to go I’ll tag along behind to see just how quick these Zs really are. I came straight back with “you won’t be disappointed and I bet you a score you can’t get past us we’re just too quick” he laughed and said “your on old timer “.
Walked back to the group and said “he thinks we’re all too old to go quick and he’ll be past us before the next bend so no letting him past“.
