You will need to get that hardtop off if you want to remove the rear shocks ;) The roof blocks access.

Well, if I had a nice warm workshop, it would be different of course. I'm getting a bit wimpy though since I passed the 60 mark..

Reasonable amount done today
.

Most of the disconnections done. Always something unexpected that slows you down. Today it was the hand brake cable. I managed to drift this one out gently (and I'd cleaned some of the rust off by this time) but the other side is still stuck fast despite penetrating oil.

I fitted Brembo discs and pads to the rear last year and had some trouble bedding the pads in. Quite surprised to see them today - one side was as expected but the other had worn or broken down quite strangely.

The main bugbear that has stopped me getting on though is the exhaust. I was expecting to be able to part it behind the cat but it has welded joints right up to the manifolds.

I put a socket on those manifold nuts and they are very tight. I backed off thinking they might be studs which could shear off but real OEM shows bolts so I'm assuming I can drift the bolt out if it breaks? I would chop the pipe but there is no straight section of pipe that I could sleeve afterwards. More on this tomorrow hopefully.

The old ARB drop links twisted off with ease. The holes in the new ones look mighty small though........

The manifold are studs and nuts Steve, but the studs do knock out with a bit of heat which allows nut and bolt s after. Nice progress mate.

Tony.

Thanks Tony. If I shear one off then, I'll have to take the manifold off. I'll have to ponder on this some more tomorrow.

No, you won't have to remove the manifold, that's what I meant. You can remove the broken studs from the flange in situ.

Tony.
