Z3 2.8 or 3.0

Make sure it's got some nice options and decent staggered wheels.

Not many for sale right now but more will appear as we move towards spring.

3.0 are rare and command a premium
2.8 plentiful but very spec dependent

I love my 2.8 as I prefer the pre face-lift

Hello

New to the forunm. After contemplating getting into a Z for the past few years, I'm intending to bite the bullet in the next couple of months in time for the Spring (and having ruled out an MX5 BBR yesterday after a test drive - I know, I know, pleae don't judge me).

I have the age old dilemma I've seen on various threads on here about whether to go Z3 or Z4 - current thinking is a Z3 3.0, if I can find a clean one - they seem fairly scarce at the moment. If not, possibly a Z4 3.0. If I go down the Z3 route, do I need to be good with spanners? Which I'm not incidentally. Does running a 15 year old car have to be a labour of love (and expense). Car is for fun only - I have a daily driver.
Go for it the Z's are great cars and lovely to drive.

Thank you both, good advice. I think I need to look for a car that's already well maintained, rather than buying something that needs lots of attention to get it to the standard I want. Couldn;t agree more on the heated seats!
Air con is a must too!... :welcome: by the way. You'll have to drive and look over both before you make up your mind.... and choose a Z3!...

:drinks:

Thank you all for the very warm welcome and advice (particularly @roadvoyager1 with some comprehensive advice). Having previously been a member of a forum for another German car brand, the Zorgs seem a very friendly bunch. Plan to take a look at the 2.2 this weekend, but also see a Z4 before I commit. The search begins ...

Hey @JuZZer I hope your search goes well, and if you find yourself this way your welcome to view and try my 3.0 Si Sport Z4. We are a friendly bunch on here and we do travel for the right car, there are quite a few stories on the forum of long purchasing journeys. I drove to Huddefield to view my Z3 bought it and then drove home, they are both great fun whichever you decide.

Thanks @Si I'll keep it in mind, as it is a lovely colour scheme. Can't imagine it'll hang around for long.
