firstly, before I rant, I should say I run a Limited Company for protection and accept payments by PayPal, under duress.
@GazHyde you've demonstrated what is so wrong with this country. If any organisation could be accused of money laundering it is PayPal, they extract millions of pounds in profits from transactions in this country and then "process" it all in Luxemburg to avoid paying tax on their profits in the UK. Oh, just like eBay, Starbucks, Asda..... the list goes on.
As
@Grumpy said, Pikey's
are running around with carrier bags full of cash. I've also had the misfortune of experiencing a pikey's cash dealings.
But little old Gaz running a "hobby" website is basically accused of being a criminal and it is down to you to prove to a foreign, tax dodging company that you are not and the only thing they will accept is a formal business arrangement.
£2500 is absolutely nothing in this day and age but I think you'll find it is PayPal rather than HMRC causing the problem. Zroadsters.org doesn't fall into the money laundering criteria in any way, shape or form.
To be honest Limited Company law is a bit of a farce in the UK, but when you operate at the mercy of our authorities and lawyers, directors need a buffer to hide behind.
ps, bring me a hat and a sticker to Duxford, I'll pay cash, used notes, no questions!
