Write Up The Lakes Tour May 2016 write up thread

Looks like you organized a cracker there @Andy McDonnell ...
Who was driving the red VW?
My mate Dave, a local chap. He helped me sort the route and led one of the groups. He did take some stick on the day TBF, took it well though. Really good day

@Andy McDonnell was that the red VW tin top owner driver :whistle: He was a cracking guy and really good to talk too for a porker driver lol..

A guy at work did the same thing a few years ago.

Tony.

Would just like to add our thanks to Andy for organising the event, Dave (944) for devising the route and guiding group three and Dave (@Mint ) for stepping in and leading the second group. Thoroughly enjoyed the drive and meeting people.

With so many pictures already added I have only a few which will add to the overall story.

At the bottom of Hardknott Pass 30% is about 1 in 3 in old money (or rather steep).

The horizon is level (honest). This is the slope on the way up. The hairpins were somewhat steeper and rear tyres were "chirpping" merrily as the LSD did its job of keeping them both turning.

Shortly after this the road disappears and it is just bonnet, sky and wondering if the road goes straight on, turns left or right.

Following the "porker" down the other side.

Looking forward to the next one, thanks again Andy (@Andy McDonnell ).

I still can't believe what a great time we had, Carrie is beaming and keeps going on about how good the whole experience was, she is also planning another trip to the lakes,

I can well understand your feelings. Our first two runs with the forum were over the Brecon Beacons and through the New Forest, then we got to do another Wales run with Hugh and Sarah, @miller1098

The weekend road trips really make Zed ownership special

Pleasure, glad you enjoyed the day

We are such a spoilt bunch getting so many awesome meetups and cruises! Wish I could have made this one, but other commitments got in the way...

Our weekend started 3.30 Friday afternoon when we got fed up of working and decided to jump in the car.Luckily my brother lives about 15 mins away from the Lakeland motor museum so it was a logical choice of destination.A really magical route had us gasping for more,so after a Sunday relaxing with family .monday we've only just arrived home after another brilliant day cruzing and exploring the Lake District.we did the hard not pass again only in the opposite direction.we stopped halfway down to stroll around the Roman fort drove to ennerdale and the honister pass ..fabulous .thanks @Andy McDonnell for the motivation, now we're knakerd:thumbsup:

Sorry to have missed you and @roadvoyager1 , honestly it's nothing personal
You'll have to arrange one of your impromptu cruises and I'll try to be there. Roadvoyager will think I don't exist lol
