The biggest thank you ever

Can they not remove the arms and rear hubs complete and press the old shafts out? Why do they say you need new shafts?

Tony.
@Rusty have you considered new drive shafts they appear reasonably priced from this eBay shop https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/jrcvjoin...uid=D6FB3kPHTJG&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

You will need the part numbers off realoem for your model.
OK. Thank you for this. I will ring the garage later to get the numbers. I am determined to keep my Z3 going.
Hello my garage say they are seized up. Forgive me I am not a mechanic so I am led by what they say.
Hi Rusty, no luck I'm afraid only 2.8 shafts.
Hi Lee. Can I have your number so we can talk

They will be rusted into the drive flanges on the splines. It's more a problem with later cars starting with the E46 but Z3's can suffer. I fitted a pair of good used shafts to my 1994 318Ti (same rear axle) last month because of split rubber boots but luckily mine came out OK.

I would buy the recon shafts from Ebay and avoid cheap new ones from China - I've seen a few snap like carrots.

Just a heads up. Rusty popped over with the arms today. 30 seconds a side to remove both drive shafts. As we all say easy with the right tools. Never seen arms this bad before, got your moneys worth here.
