The being at home positivity thread!

beautiful property

Too right! I downsized when I retired to Norfolk, but that is a lovely place!

:drinks:

English was never a strong point of mine ....give me a tool and a task and thats a different matter

Anyway “cloche”is a French word and I was crap at French too.=))=))

Tony.

I never did languages,....... but my school was approved!

Correcting spelling mistakes on social media would be a full time job for an army of teachers @Bonzeau. It's all about what people want to say, not how they convey the message.:)

Yaeh I nowes that. But I like hate the bastardisation of English grammar like. Summer is now pronounced Summah, as are countless other words ending in er. Listen to politicians speaking and count the number of um's and ahhs! Don't get me started....

Call me Mr Angry!! :rage::mad:

Ooer, I thinkl I got into trouble some time ago about commenting on this subject.

:D

It probably started with Phonetic spelling 50 years ago. Spelling words as they sounded.

Tony.

Tend to agree with you @Bonzeau. Yes, language changes and assimilates new terms or words, but like you, some things drive me up the wall. Saying 'like' before every other word, starting every sentence with the word 'so' etc. However, this is not really the ideal platform to debate the issue. Let's stick to cars.:D

Probably a generational thing.

Yes it is exactly that.
Shakespeare would be tutting if he saw 'these' posts.
There are more youngsters in extended education now than there ever has been, but grammar and spelling amongst them is atrocious.
I see it with the apprentices we take on nowadays.
It doesn't get to me anymore, only the Americanisms, everything else is just change and laziness.
The 'ah's are more a 'cool' London street accent thing I hate that too, but change happens, and resistance is futile.

Can't see where you've been mate. ;)
Ha,ha. Looks lovely, especially the pond:thumbsup:

Lol having to reline it this year it was a gravity fed filter but they used a builders sheet rather than a good liner and it is punctured near the top.
Have built a new filter but going to strip it back,
there are approx 150 fish in there, some Japanese Koi getting close to 2ft long , so rather than running any risks of losing them we will get them out into storage tanks and rebuilt it.
A fair size task though but a week at it will hopefully have them back in it if all goes well

I have a submersible pump you could use mate if it's a job for when we're set free again?

Tony.

I know who won that epic last frame of the World Snooker Final between Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor in 1985, but I could watch that anytime !

Tony.
It's amazing how things stick in your mind pal, I was in a pub watching that and it went after hours the landlord turned us all out, we had to run home to watch the remainder

Have you thought about blue clay as a liner, I helped a mate do his a few years back, messy job but looks natural when its done

Carp lake fisheries also use clay around a lake in sandy land to produce colour in the water from "wave" action against the clay so the water isn't crystal clear.

Just taken delivery of a golf putting mat from eBay, had 5 mins practice and then Tigress Woods took over to show me how it's done :).
