Sugar tax

cooking was virtually none existent

I had "Home Economics" at school back in the day .... ;)

Through the processes of selecting, preparing, cooking, and serving food, students develop their creativity and experience a sense of accomplishment. At the same time, they develop personal and interpersonal understandings and skills that contribute to well-being.

They get A* on their feelings now though mate ......

Agreed on the first bit mate, my 3 have been at several schools and the cooking was virtually none existent. Something to be said for grammar schools though. Oh, PE once a week? We did it every day when I was at school.
Kids are in school an hour less at least each day than we were. Teachers don’t have enough time time to teach any more hours because of the burden put on them for tracking and documenting achievements, the constant tinkering with curriculum plus the additional need to give kids every age the social skills and world knowledge that their parents can’t be a***d to do themselves.
Many parents expect the schools to do the parenting for them.
Some kids arrive at reception unable to sit and concentrate, feed themselves using cutlery, unable to go to the toilet alone and it’s not unknown for them to arrive with a dummy.
Who’d be a kid or a teacher?

Yup, agreed mate, doesn't make it right though. It's a social problem. Kids are taught far to much nonsense, especially in primary school, just the basics and PE is enough. Difficult to turn around as the damage is done.

sugar tax will not work, most of the fat kids have fat parents, they need to educate them from a young age and it will take years to change there ways

Can't stand the sickly sweet smell of energy drinks, if someone opens a can of Red Bull near me, it makes me want to chuck up :sour:
Over here Red Bull send the dolly birds out in the summer to drive around handing out free cans of the stuff, mainly on the industrial estates, aiming at the 20+ age customer.

We had to attend every class, even RE up to a certain age, then we could choose what we wanted to concentrate on.
Bloody stupid system: Technical Drawing or Art. Metal Work or Woodwork. etc.
But a least you could get out of that bullcarp Religious Education and Home Economics.

Yes, interesting. As it happens, my wife does the cooking and I maintain the house, cars etc. Must be conditioning from an early age.

Same routine we're got in our house :p

Sugar tax just makes the cost of living higher.

Does nothing to educate people.
