The sugar tax has begun :p
My son went into Tesco to buy a Monster drink .....
He got asked for ID as you need to look over 25 but the assistant said you need to be 21 to buy the drink ( Brandon is 23 ) :)
The drink was 50p more than it used to be :(
What do you all think :)

Easy target to raise more tax would be my view.

The tax is going towards schools and children's clubs :p
I think ;)
It's not fair though :)

You can buy a monster machine gun in the USA at 18, something is wrong in the world. That said, there are too many obese kids around so something needs to be done I guess. Can't help but see this as a political gesture though. A political gesture to stop Syrian kids being dosed with military chemicals would be better.:(

I've always drunk sugar free soft drinks. But it hasn't stopped me from being 15 stone and having too many fillings. So I can't see how encouraging kids to cut down on drinking sugared stuff is going to change the world.

It's just pandering to the politically correct. Which I can't abide.

There's also a lack of alignment on age requirements. If you need to be 21 to buy high-energy drinks (the sign says 16 in our local co-op to be fair) then perhaps the Government would like to make sure under 21 year olds also get child prices into the cinema, buses etc.

I think I'd be pretty offended if I was a young person.

You can get a taxed sugar drink... and a bar of chocolate containing more sugar with no increase in tax.

Personally, I think it’s an excuse to raise tax revenue and play lip service to the ‘I am a healthy eater’ brigade.

What really needs to happen is that you should be encouraged to eat a little healthier, but if you travel a lot, like I do. The food choices on the road are horrendous. Where’s the encouragement for me to eat better ? Another services opens with KFC, Mc Donald’s or Burger King.. healthy food is a noodle bar or m&s ... hmmmm cheers. The option I normally go for is a Mc D’s chicken wrap. At least you know what you are eating. Before anybody says, make your own. A typical day for me can be 2 or 3 site inspections with 400 plus miles of driving. 12 hour days not unheard of. Lucky I only do two days a week like that.

Can't stand the sickly sweet smell of energy drinks, if someone opens a can of Red Bull near me, it makes me want to chuck up :sour:
Over here Red Bull send the dolly birds out in the summer to drive around handing out free cans of the stuff, mainly on the industrial estates, aiming at the 20+ age customer.

Funny that these guys never drive around handing out free beer .... :(

Shall we consider that on a height for width scale then ? Which would make you 'under tall' or just a 'rotund' dutch smurf.. ;)

You will not be surprised to learn that the calorific content of beer, is very high.. probably why you are putting on a bit my little Dutch Friend.

Mike.. I could be rather down right nasty regarding that comment.. but I shall be polite and say... read all the post... =))

And having opened beer as a liquid lunch would not be really right would it by your standards. Hence why I enjoy my coffee breaks.

When you work visiting such premises... The stock answer is no thank you as you would end up getting nothing done. So I can see how you are getting so 'square' then.. helping your mate deliver the healthy options and eating all the pies.... :ymdevil:

And, thinking about it, you can get food and a coffee at most pubs instead of going to those junk food establishments you frequent ;)
and thinking about it.. yes I probably could if I could add an hour plus to my day waiting for some food I would not enjoy. I am happy with a lite, bite of a chicken wrap. I have enough coffee to know that most of these places sell what they refer to as coffee but what I would refer too as brown water... Lacking and no real taste. plus the mug size is like a thimble too.. Would be ok for your little hands I expect.

That's the UK for you mate, most bars over here that do it sell great coffee and even most petrol stations.
None of your instant coffee powder crap mixed up with some lukewarm water.
