A bit too close for comfort HT!! No damage at your's? JIM
Pretty rare phenomena that. My dad always said leave the door open to let any ball lightening out. Not sure how that works.Years ago in the summer time over here, it came out of nowhere, an almighty bang, I through myself to the floor in the kitchen and registered a flash, thought a bomb had gone off...!!
Turned out next door had got hit, quite a lot of damage...they think it was ball lightening.
Its not the best place to be in a thunderstorm - Supposed to be safe enough but I think I'd rather not be in a plane about to land when lightening strikes.Didn't pass glasgow airport certainly no planes about when passed Prestwick airport
I bet that was interesting going past the air port. I presume planes weren't trying to land in that.
I bet that was reassuring. Land in a storm or run out of fuel. Our storms are Tame by comparison. Shows you how insignificant we are compared to the power of nature though. We were due to land at Miami a few years ago as we were heading down to the Keys, but a mega storm was going on over Miami so we were diverted back out over the ocean 3 times and the last time we had to go north and land in Orlando to re-fuel before taking off and heading back down to Miami.
When we landed (finally) the immigration hall was packed, so after what seemed like hours we set off for Isla Morada all the while watch thing the lightening storm still going over the ocean all the way down US 1.
Tony.
Impressive in those mountains I bet.In 85 Joan and I were in Bavaria when a lightning storm hit. Sheet lightning, balls and flashes everywhere in the sky outlining the Alps! Pulled over and watched it for an hour and a half! Most spectacular storm I've ever seen and I just love lightning storms. Had a dandy last night here but nowhere near what Winnipeg and SW Manitoba got with winds and several tornadoes touching down!! We lucked out again as most of it went south of us.. JIM
