Sports seats

I have just ordered some flexifil, looks like a good method for small cracks and creases, I won't need all of it so if you need to fill any areas I can send you the rest.

Andy

Hey thanks Andy i have 2 ,5 mm knicks and a patch of wear that will fill slightly so if you have spare when your done its very much appreciated thank you

I'll be interested to see how you get on with the dying etc Ant. My drivers seat bolster isn't bad at all considering it's age but I would like to improve it. Maybe you'll be able to give me some tips when you've done yours.

Will give it a go and let you know have already had a go with some of the stuff i had and the difference is great. Heres a pic of it when i got it both drivers bolsters showing heavy wear the pic i previouz posted isn't great but you can see the damage has gone and coloured.IMG_6284.webp 20151120_155340.webp
Will get better ones but its very simple to do.
The colouring has made a vast difference shiney to matt but a more solid colour.

I'd say the bolster wear is almost the same as mine. Wouldn't mind getting rid of the dott effect myself.

Well i'll let you see the effect when i have them done.
A little too stitching on the bolster to repair but the leather is all intact the stiching is just missing but its an easy job looking at the videos.
As mentioned i think i may two tone the interior but both beige just the inners a slightly lighter colour for some contrast.

Hi Ant here's a couple of pics so you can see what BMW did as regards black/beige.

A little more black along the sides of the console and over the dial binnacle (plus a Raide steering wheel) I feel is needed and will get around to it sometime, let me know how you get on with the dye. Good luck mate. Roy.

Which ever way i go its the door card insets that will bring it all together i think.
Thanks for the pics looking good :)

Just don't know how you get it all done, I'm retired and can hardly find the time for the Z at the moment, wish my lockup was part of the house wouldn't be sitting here on the iPad. ;)

PS; wife asked me to take her out in the Z this afternoon,( had to take her temp just in case) any way I got the Z out and she asked me to take her to the retail park 15mls away but only if I drove nice and steady, really don't have to tell you I got myself in trouble going but not coming back, ha ha ha will I never learn. Good to get it out though,( that's the Z Jim in case you read this)=))

To make sure my post doesn't get deleted for being off topic, I think the two tone beige will look great. Will be very much like the older standard beige combo of the beige with a slightly lighter beige ostrich textured Insert. Also @Rha if it wasn't the Z "it" could have ended up looking like the black and blue Sport Seat! JIM

Spot on there Ant, the black insert is enough to tie the black and beige together, it looks dead right to me.

Tony.

Ask whom ever pulled it @HT. Just want to play by the rules as set out by Gaz! That's all, don't need to draw attention to myself, already enough doing that and watching where and what I post! I have a bit of trouble staying on track but you should understand that, it's easily done! JIM

I (yes me) deleted a post of yours Jim which was off topic in an event thread, along with 2 other peoples off topic posts (see it wasn't the mod team solely picking on you). If you post on topic, there is no need to state you are doing so - like Mike has stated it just looks a bit odd.

Apologies to Ant for the "off topic" in the middle of your thread. ;)

So all the colours of dye have been ordered and i have been to see @yocky z3 2.0 who has kindly loaned me his airbrush and compressor.
Have gone with dye from liquid leather having toyed with all sorts their one hit dye that contains everything seemed the simplist way to go .
Alot of the kits use chemicals to strip the seat of its original dye but as they have said its quite harsh and can damage the stitching and dry the leather.
3 stages of clean /condition and then dye are all it takes no finish to apply or any sealer to add as said their dye contains it all.
There a few small repairs to do alittle filler but not much as the leather is in good condition. I had some stiching that was gone and decided to see if i could put it back the leather is held together fine its just the stitching thats worn and snapped.
As mentioned youtube showed how so had a crack at it,its not perfect but its better than just holes and when its all dyed down it will blend in.
Seat before...

And after

As said not perfect but better than not there.
The seats have the natorious rock as the kebabs are worn but no such movement in the original seats so i have changed the subframes of the seats over 2 bolts and the whole mechanism comes free.
Just a point to mention on this if anyone is fitting post face lift seats into a preface lift or visa versa swapping the bases over will sort most of the wiring issues.
I have read that its just the seat motors that are different and the heated bit is the same so may be very straight forward but that bit im unsure.
Dying kit will arrive next week and off for a few days so will hopefully get it all sorted fingers crossed !

That stitching looks very good to me Ant. Nice job mate.

Tony.
