Block all ready for rebuilding.

Well today I went into one of the depots ( where I got engine sent to ) and slightly against my better judgement I did this to a potentially good engine with nothing wrong with it .:oops:

I know I hang my head in shame .:bag::bag:
But fear not it has gave itself to breathe new life into a dying comrade and together in unison they will both ( in part ) live on :):):)

The one good thing was totally stripped the engine to bare block learnt a fair bit about where every last nut and bolt location could be future useful if anything needs done engine in the bay rather than on a pallet.

Agreed Brian the last rebuilding of the head looked patchy at best.
My other dilema was if I put the other engine in and something was wrong with it I'd be a bit annoyed.
At least this way I have looked at everything and put back together properly and correctly .

Thanks appreciated coming from someone who has been down this road :):)
I'm still walking the road too Steve. Alas, there has been a bit of a downturn in fortunes for the black Zed. I've been driving it quite hard to try and "prove" the repair and the engine has developed what sounds like a bottom end rumble.

Mate really sorry to hear this after all the graft that you have already put in. :(
If it is a bottom end knock big end shells are a nuisance but do-able mains are only do-able if the upper shells will push round and the new ones push back into place otherwise crankshaft out and that's a major strip more than likely requiring engine out then you'd be just as well fitting another unit in .:meh: Stephen.

I'm going to take her out again tomorrow for further assessment. I've started looking for another engine but haven't really got the time or the inclination to want to start another project, not now I've bought another car anyway.

I can understand that after all your efforts.
If it is the 1st stages of a lower end issue it will be more noticeable once warmed up as the oil will be thinner and idle oil pressure will be lower than a cold engine.
Take it you did an oil and filter change after the cylinder head job how many miles covered since restart.
