Yep, I've decided at last to go that way for the suspension bushes (14 year old car, about time too). Only done the front so far, but it's definitely an improvement. There's a bend on the way to Pwllheli with quite a big ripple in it all the way across the road, makes anything shimmy a bit, but just changing the front lollypop bushes has almost got rid of that. The ride seems improved, too, much smoother, probably something to do with the suspension going up and down like it's meant to instead of trying to wiggle sideways. Never did like void bushes anyway. And back when I had my E36 I changed the same bushes for new standard ones, what a job that was. Much easier with the poly bushes, just slips together.
While I'm here, anyone come across adjustable top mounts for the front struts? Took the car in to have the tracking adjusted and it seems that the camber is a long way out. Not adjustable as standard, just wondering if there's a way of sorting that out.
And after typing all that with two fingers, time for a cup of tea.

I believe you can get e36 adjustable mounts that work on the Z3.

Well done good job

You're absolutely right, looking at some now. Can I justify buying them to myself? Hmmm.

Are adjustable top mounts allowed on your insurance? Only trying to get the camber back to how it should be, not trying to get all Fast&Furious.

Haahaa you are funny Fast@Furious :p
Yes we are happy with those mods Just pop me an email and I will note your new mods and send you an updated statement of fact

Didn't take too much persuading, did I? Adjustable plates ordered, just hope they don't make the suspension too harsh, no squishy rubber to damp things down a bit. Having said which, used to be a rough tough biker type, and there's no rubber mounts on them, just suspension that works like it should. Will mostly be fitting Powerflex to the back end, except for some Whiteline adjustable trailing arm bushes to remove some of the negative camber from there. Got most of the bits, just need plenty of enthusiasm.
BMBabe, will let you know once it's done. And will then go for a slow and careful drive around those lovely twisty bits around Snowdon.

So the adjustable plates are on, set to as central as I can get them, not able to get somewhere to do the alignment till Thursday. Fitted these (hope the link works) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322111100821?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT and they're just fine. Thought there might be too much in the way of NVH what with getting rid of yet another squidgy bit of rubber but no problem at all, just feels more positive through corners. Now to get the back axle out.........

Got the camber and tracking done today, what a difference that's made. Didn't handle too badly to start with, but so much better now. Makes me wonder if the tramlining that I get once the tyres are worn down may be connected to the camber being out. Will find out in a few thousand miles.

I had some bad tramlining on my Z4 since I bought it, at first I put it down to the "Run Flats" but after putting on my 108's with Goodyear F1 Eagle tyres it was pretty much the same.
After fitting my Eibach springs last week and having the tracking adjusted it drives so much better. Now, whether it was all down to tracking, or lowering, I don't know, probably a combination of the two. Anyway in another 100 miles Jamie will re-check my tracking including the full 4 wheel alignment so after that I will be in a position to say.

Tony.

And just in case anyone's bothered, here's how far the camber had to be adjusted to get it straight. No signs of any damage anywhere, lower arms not new but not in a bad state, can't see any reason why the camber should be so far out.

Is that adjusted during tracking, or did you work it out yourself?

Set them up as central as I could, took it to ATS Bangor yesterday and that's what they had to do to get the camber right. Obviously that put the tracking out, but they got that straight. Castor was fine. Both struts leaning in the same direction, wonder if that contributes to the tramlining. Got nearly new tyres at the moment so will have to wait to find out.

Interesting read, I think my drivers side camber is out but having an ///M there is a lot of camber as standard. Might have a look at M specific adjustable tops as I would need them to have adjustable camber too.
