I’d love a set but not found anything so far, I’ve been meaning to try and tint my white and red ones actually, think I have some tint spray somewhere for the job.
Usually the tint sprays are a matte finish so would need a coat of lacquer to get a good look.
Will need brighter bulbs to compensate too but with all the bright Led Replacements about shouldn’t be an issue..

I think we have similar taste @Dino D . I've had a look at a few things and nothing has quite tickled my fancy. A lot of the aftermarket lights i've seen, like the ebay ones above, are a bit...naaah. I love that e36 look the 3 series had. Usually changing lights on cars is a bit naff but i think suits the period of these cars. I'm sure this car has come up several times on your searches.

All red combo is nice, it would be interesting to know how it was done but i can't find any threads on the car. Seen some info but its sparse. I would be keen to see what a carefully cut piece of vinyl tint over the clear section of the lights would look. I think the red clear lense style would be the one to try. Pretty sure you got clear lights at the back?

All red is nice too.
I’ve got white and red currently

Would like to try black and red and red/red...Mmmm some extra sets of lights needed...I’ve got a set of white/red with a small crack that the film should cover easily...also have a set of original orange/red which should be good candidates for making black/red...the film idea will give the gloss look like the rest of the light so maybe a better bet than the spray stuff...
Maybe something for the winter!

I used some that tinting film. You can make it dark as you like by adding more layers. Cheap as chips
Thanks for posting up the pic. Great to find reference. Looks good. The kinda shade im looking for. Is there any noticeable seams on the lights or does it disappear from a few feet away?

As long as the appropriate light show correct colour all good;)
May i assume for MOT purposes that that must be white reversing lights, Red brake lights and orange indicators? Is there a scale of whats considered orange? :bag:

Let's stick with z3 for now
As far as an mot goes basing it on the all red light look
Side lights as long as light output not seriously reduced be ok ( as obviously colour will be right as red lense)
Stop lamps again same criteria.
Reverse lamp NOT part of mot for that age of car before 2009 ( police may not be happy if they see the reverse lamp in action but that's a different part of the road traffic act )
Indicator. This is the potential problem one as it must show amber ( how orange is to a degree slightly flexible) for example I regularly advise and fail amber bulbs kn ear lenses for incorrect colour ( too white ) so really depends on how amber they look if they look reddish will fall example of that would be American cars with red lenses and red flashing turn signals if uk imported gave to be converted ( quite often with amber led units cut into bumper )

@Stevo7682 I have quite seen anything i fancy quite yet in terms of lights. Kinda like the lights as they are. Currently got the car alarm getting set off by the rain dropping into the car.

I wonder has anyone tried spraying the insides of a tail amp unit to get a look of the plastic being coloured rather than tinted/sprayed on the outside of the lens?

I like how the first pic of the e36 lights look - when you do it over the top it comes out different to when the plastic itself is coloured.
