Amen to that!
Some of those Welsh hills are a bugger with rear wheel drive through 3 foot snow drifts.

The first stop is lunch at The Ponderosa Cafe at the top of The Horseshoe Pass, then we have an afternoon comfort break at Nesscliffe Services alongside the A5 between Shrewsbury and Oswestry and then the run heads back to Prees Truckstop. Feel free to break away at any point that takes your fancy or stay to the bitter end.
We could even have a closing out curry ceremony in Market Drayton on Sunday night.

Booked for a second night at the Old School House, so we can fully enjoy the day without the drive home. Derbyshire peaks looks tempting on the Monday as a route home.

two weeks to go really looking forward to the first cruise of the year

Hi Tony, could you add me and Linda please?

Last call for anyone wanting to join the Saturday evening meal. Good company and Z talk guaranteed. :drinks:
Would love to but unfortunately due to family commitments can’t get there in time.

Hi Tony, not long now. Have you got the route finalised? I'd like to get it on my SatNag ready for the day:thumbsup:. Did you say you were going to put it on MyRoute?

Satnag. Freudian slip perhaps? Most of it is on myroute. I just need to put the last bit on from Nesscliffe services back to Prees Truck Stop. Send me your email in a PM and I will send you a link. I will ask for a couple of group leaders on the day and I intend to make road notes to hand out to everyone on the day so nobody should get lost or if they do they can meet up at one of the 2 planned rest stops. What could possiblu gi wrang.

looking forward to this. first event of the year for us..

think the car is pretty much sorted... just a bit of fettling and farting about with it. hoping to get the oil change in the next few days once the flush comes back posted..

not decided on which wheels ot put on yet... !!!

I have 4 different sets.. its looking like i going to go standard 1.9 starfish alloys and save the 108's just for local short runs and shows... I may even run the style 44's to scrub the rest of the tyres down for refurb.. god i sound like an old tart and which handbag to take on the run....!!!!

Following on from last years cruise I have decided to give it another bash in 2019. Date as in the title Sunday 28th April meeting at Prees Heath again at 10.00 first cars leaving shortly after for a run that is not yet planned but will probably go through Llangollen taking in the Horseshoe Pass, Bala and Oswestry. Very scenic, hilly and a great drive. Not exactly Shropshire but I am allowing myself some stretching of county borders. If there is enough interest for a meal on the Saturday night beforehand I have a country pub in mind that serves cheap guest beers, cheap wholesome food (about £8 main) with a very basic camping field at the back for the outdoor types. Have a few beers and be in bed in minutes. I might even camp myself for the fun of it. All very sketchy at the moment but I will firm it up in time if there is enough support.
Interested drivers make yourself known and I will start a list, if we get more than 5 cars I will need leaders to volunteer also.

  1. Me & Jeano
  2. Jim & Alicia
  3. Paul & Jacquie
  4. Handsomejack & handsomejill
  5. Nodzed & Ali
  6. Bozzy & Sara
  7. Lefrog & Barbara
  8. G8jka
  9. The Mints
  10. Alenod (& one)
  11. Colb & Mrs Colb
  12. AlanZ & Emma
  13. Chaz Ricorn. (Coming in a rice burner unless he finds a Z beforehand)
  14. Philip Baxter & Linda
Mmm...I'd join you for the day but I need to see how my thermostat is holding up this coming week. It looks like it needs replacing but the small indie mechanic is away until a week on Monday and I don't want to blow the cylinder head gasket...

The thermostat usually fails in the open position causing the car to run cool all the time so if yours is running hot I would suspect the water pump, a blocked radiator or something simple like the fan belt slipping. No point running taking chances though because there will be plenty of other runs in the future.

It's running at the 11 o'clock position and not rising so I know something isn't right. And running cool, as you say.

The final part of the run is now on myroute at last, sorry for the delay. The rest stop is on a dual carriageway so we have to leave heading for Shrewsbury but the 1st waypoint takes us back on ourselves at the 1st roundabout.
There is an escape point at Burlton for anybody staying in Wem Sunday night if you want to get back to your digs.
See you all next weekend.
