Looking at other pics on other cars the beam that gets stuck looks too far forward. when collapsed it looks like it is as far as it'll go and again too far forward. Equally when you shut it again it doesn't quite reach and needs pulling into its holes before clamping in place.Doesn’t look right to me
Doesn’t look right to me
have you tried opening and closing with the pump disengaged ?, in manual overide.Where the first gif ends I have to give it a hand and it snaps into place for l the next part.
Not yet no, as I don't know how to disengage!have you tried opening and closing with the pump disengaged ?, in manual overide.
The micro switch tells the pump when to stop and when it can start, there is a valve on the pump that allows hydraulic fluid to move without the pump working due to a malfunctioning micro switch. trying to move the roof manually against the hydraulics is a no go..At least if you eliminate this as a problem, you are a step further towards the solution... further more you should be able to "feel" the mechanism, to identify any issues, including bent hoops..Not yet no, as I don't know how to disengage!![]()
are you lifting the front lip at the beginning of the process, not just halfway through? It has to remain lifted from the beginning all the way to the end.Got it a little further. Have to help it at half way the microswitch bit. Got some more pics and a vid. It doesn't want to go into the car as far.
It's quite tight but with some strength they go in, then clamped up.You do usually have to pull it that last bit to close..that’s normal. Do the little spikes line up with the holes ok, if not then likely a bent frame
I followed the same procedure as my previous z3 unclamp, lift a little, motor pick up slack and folds down. What's happening here is motor kicks in earlier and then folds back but doesn't bend at the mid point where I have to help it where it snaps into position and will then carry on. Then it doesn't go any further than in the pics.are you lifting the front lip at the beginning of the process, not just halfway through? It has to remain lifted from the beginning all the way to the end.
I'll have to try this again next weeknd. As in between jobs I've just fixed the bonnet not staying closed (gunked spring clips) and now the bonnet release cable has snapped! The micro switch tells the pump when to stop and when it can start, there is a valve on the pump that allows hydraulic fluid to move without the pump working due to a malfunctioning micro switch. trying to move the roof manually against the hydraulics is a no go..At least if you eliminate this as a problem, you are a step further towards the solution... further more you should be able to "feel" the mechanism, to identify any issues, including bent hoops..
Niether do I, I,m supposed to be retired, and would much prefer just driving it...I'll have to try this again next weeknd. As in between jobs I've just fixed the bonnet not staying closed (gunked spring clips) and now the bonnet release cable has snapped!
I don't know why I do it to myself!!![]()
Is the circled in the attached image the T handle?Niether do I, I,m supposed to be retired, and would much prefer just driving it.... but look for a little "T" handle on the pump, If it's the same as mine, if its open the hydraulics are negated and you can manually figure out what is goosed...
That,s the puppy,,,Is the circled in the attached image the T handle?
