Dino it does have a nice little pop on the over run but you can only hear it at low speed. Been on for Six years now so if it was really detrimental it would have shown up by now. When switched to Eco mode the car drives like a Mk1 1300 escort so even on the motorway I just wouldn't entertain it. Couldn't prove that it has any significant gain but it stays in max setting all the time. Will maybe get it checked out when the remap is done, but that's not untill I've finished all my mods.
Roy.

Now the M54 330i manifold is on and its running real well there's just the BBTB to find if there is in fact one that's available for the 2.8tu, then the re map for completion. The night mare job is now the only one left, which I've been putting off for nearly a year, yes the dreaded sound system re wire and amp fit to drive my ported mid bass setup.

I can understand putting off the wiring of the sound system Roy but after your hard work and achieving the excellent result it would be a crying shame not to hear the sounds coming load and proud

Jim they've put up with my boy racer antics here in this little close for nearly 40yrs so they don't take any notice now and the Z is the quietest car I've ever had, shame cos this is the first car I've owned with a good sound system so they probably think I've moved on.=))=))=))................:rally: little do they know.lol

Must be getting old when I now want to hear the music overvthe exhaust, well not all the time. It's because we get held up so much in this country by drivers who just don't get on with their driving, so you just might as well keep off the loud peddle and listen to some music, don't matter what music as long as it helps to calm you, that's if you need calming Jack.=))

Latest but best as yet update.
After 16mths I've finally wired the sub plus two amps, one Alpine in line amp and one Bass face db4.2 both under the passenger dashboard. Bass Face where the passenger airbag would normally be located, not equipped in my Z.
YES it sounds great, the extra bass from between the seats fills the much needed lack of bass from the rear.
The cabin now feels complete sound wise, although I ve toned it down somewhat as I'm not a big fan of too much bass, BBC classical brings a whole new meaning of music in my hood up environme, not been able to test it hood down but I'm anticipating same boost. Just one neg to this fitting of amp under passenger dashboard and that is a very stiff right side neck muscle which no over the counter pills can cope with, and that's not including a bruised back. Shame the stiffness isn't elswere where it might do some good.=))=))=)).
Yep, it's been a experience but I'm not doing any more wireing anytime soon, hate it.:meh:
Come have a listen next time you see me.

Alpine in line amp, easy fit.

Bass Face amp nice and small ready to go up under dash in air bag location. Proper pig when you've never done any ICE fit in yer life. 30amp power wire from slave/jump start under bonnet fused down to 15amp.

Power taken from under bonnet slave point is so much easier than routing it through from battery in boot.

PS, hard wired my dash cam while under there.

As if the wireing wasn't enough to get this OAP down @Low Rider now you want me to get/post a video.=)) Well I can get one on my phone but I've tried it before and it's repo is terrible. Maybe I could try the dash cam although I've no idea how to up/ down load it. Have the 40 page instruction manual, so it should be in there somewhere. See what I can do, see if I can beat 16mths.=))
