Took these pictures and wondering if these wires have anything to do with it, also ive shorted all the wires with a piece of wire trying to get the doors to lock and unlock and they wont, so i think its a lost cause
The orange connector was hanging spare on mine which works - so I don't think that has anything to do with it. Can't remember the others.

Right guys ive been out trying to get it working still no joy
Just checking but have you carried out the recoding exactly as instructed ? as have done two for my 1998 and they worked But the first FOB i purchased would not work and when I opened up the fob and looked inside to find that it was not the right fob for our Zs so maybe post a pic of the inside of your fob and we can check. if its the same it might be some of the diconected wiring ? Hi (dont know your name) sorry I did not come back yesterday but just opened one of mine and yours is not the same layout inside as mine and would suggest that like the first one that I purchsed, and got my money back is not the fob to operate the system on the Z3s so maybe someone else on the forum like Jonco might confirm my thoughts as it was chaps non this very helpful forum that told me mine was wrong which which was 3/4 years bago and cant remember exactly who it was Geoff

I bought a new fob from dealer ~7 years ago as I didn't want to risk an eBay one. Pics below for info. Certainly different to your photo.

Gary contact the seller, you have the photos for what you need and get it exchanged. You might be able to get a new one from BMW you can only can ask, might be pricey though.

I travel back to my dig’s on a Monday. Would you like to borrow my spare remote to see if your central locking and alarm system is actually working?

Hi Gary
Tell the seller it’s not the one for the Z3 and you want to return it for one with the internals like pics previously sent that are correct you might not get postage refunded. Geoff
