Phew - so it was the sensor. Great news - another 12 months driving :coolsteer)
Congratulations Reggie

But, to be honest, nothing could rain on your parade today. Proud mum and dad I bet.
Congratulations Jack

most garages around here will give it an mot without actually giving you one, like test the car off the record and see what it brings up, then if ok the test is done proper. (it still costs though) but if you still have a couple of weeks left on your old mot it wont void it (unless its seriously dangerous).
I suspect most testers are cautious of the 'secret shopper' i.e. a VOSA check on their testing and processes. I can see circumstances where the tester can lose their accreditation by simply trying to help the customer achieve a pass. I guess they have to do the test twice - once a check and report and then an official test. Are there rules around what constitutes the start of an official test?
I've had my car failed, fixed for nothing and then passed all without my knowing.

@Grumpy that will be the caliper we had trouble with, either rebuild with pistons and seals or replace both. Pleased it's passed, was the sensor replaced?
No not yet Brian. So that's a sensor, brake caliper, new suspension, rear brakes arn't far off either. For sale 2.8 Z3 £6000 ono! Sensible offers considered! =))

With all the stories that go with your car £6000 sounds low, if I had any money I wouldn't give you less than £8000 for it!! lol. Congrats on finally passing! JIM

Erm once my child settles into a decent job he should be able to earn more than his old dad so do you think he may assist me as and when I holler "I'm skint, help!" :D

My youngest asks if he can borrow some $$ but I tell him "here just accept this as a gift son, cuz you'll never pay me back". Just one of my mottos. If you believe your own BS you'll believe anything so why play the borrow game?? JIM
