Reggies latest issue!

It's old car syndrome, Reggie is just getting through the grumpy teenager phase. All cars this age need more fettling, but buying something newer may not be any more reliable. My original 2003 Z4 was starting to become unreliable which is why my mate sold it on. I've just checked and the reg can't be found anymore so I'm guessing it's been scrapped.

Just keep the faith, a bit more time and an increase in maintenance (ask Jue for more pocket money) and I'm sure you will weather through it all.
 
@Grumpy Stay the course Dave, remember we drive old cars, things will always go wrong :( and don't think of going to the dark side :whistle: Hope things get sorted.

It's hearts and heads Gaz. I love the car, adore the drive but the maintenance bill Is taking a hammering at the moment. I don't have and never have had a want to sell it, I love the life it gives me and I have some fantastic generous mates on the forum that help massively to keep the labour costs down but the parts alone at the moment are crippling me. I don't think I could part with it but might have to cut back on runs for a while. :(
 
Dave, you need to weather this little storm. Reggie has given you 3 years of trouble free motoring. Perhaps he didn't like being used as a daily for a bit. In fact the leaky roof may be causing your tacho problem. If there is dampness in the car it could be causing the tacho to misbehave. A few days in the sunshine to dry it all out may be the answer.;)
If you buy an early Z4, by definition it will be at least 10 years old and you could well be buying somebody else's problems. As was said earlier 'better the devil you know':thumbsup:

Hi Dave , if you change the car how much are you going to spend ? then possibly that car will need things doing to it, better to spend the money on the devil you know & get it sorted. im alway doing little jobs on Bessie but i wouldnt even consider getting rid of here as i like the car & the drive. hang on in there
 
To be honest Dave apart from the Engine and roof you have probably spent the larger figures for repairs. Bare in mind what you have done so far and the overall condition Body excellent except Bumper all suspension done. We have just shelled out over 1k and i know mozz has as well and mozz's is 13yrs old and ours is only 8yrs old
 
Well I have to go bed as up at 3 but thank you all for your replies. @hard top you had me laughing out loud which I needed. Had a s*** day at work and Reggie playing the goat just added to an already bad day. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. :thumbsup:

You may find pulling the dash out, stripping it down, cleaning all the connectors may just cure it. In the mean time, cover the tacho with a piece of cardboard and use your ears! Tacho is not essential!

They are worth effort, and a newer car will just harbour different gremlins.

You could always swap it for an aeroplane, then you'll really learn the meaning of "expensive pain in the ar5e".

Just realised I have a problem with the tacho in mine. It stops moving when the needle gets to the 7 :ymdevil:
 
That'd be around the time it can't scream any louder then?;)=))

It's not quite that bad. Magically it selects another gear and goes again :angelic:
