recent mpg

Last time I calculated mine I was 29 - 30mpg which is not too bad.

(14mpg when on track though )

my warning light has blown its bulb, i have a big pile of these bulbs but still havnt gotten around to it yet, think it blew simply due to it wearing out as it was always on=)) the furthest i dared go with the light on was around 60 miles with clenched teeth and a right foot like a granny:) dont think i have ever filled a tank to the top in my entire life:whistle:
i keep telling myself i will swap the bulb while i do my wooded clocks, but this project just keeps rolling around in the boot as other stuff just keeps pushing it down the order.
Always fill the cars to the brim - I'd be going to put fuel in every day otherwise.
There's always still a few miles left even when reading empty, but, I'd never go down that far as you're dragging muck and crap out of the bottom of the tank into your fuel line.

Me too I did it once: drove with the light on about 30 miles , in the city; parked the car in the garage and next day I couldn't even start the engine, the tank was dry... Since , I no longer drive with the light on!

I agree with comments that we enjoy driving our cars and the complimentary comments from people we meet the fuel we use is just a necessity of life. I tend to monitor it to give a guide that all is well with the car.
Our previous 530d didn't have a temp gunge and fragile thermostats, there were 3, so if there was a drop in figures was time to start checking things.

Keep on diving and bring on the sun and good company.

I have heard this sucking up gunk from the bottom of the tank before, but doesn't the fuel get taken from the bottom anyway?

True, but the dirt float in the whole room of the tank; when level is low , the dirt concentration increase. Anyway, sooner or later will go in the fuel filter, which is huge. All the time I found the filter very clean, macro. I don't know how was micro though.

Since I collected my car my trip has averaged 20.9
Haha
Just filed up there at BP and reset everything. A very slow 3 mile journey home and I'm on 24...
Oh dear

Anyone care to hazard a guess at my fuel consumption :nailbiting:, pootling around town about 23mpg, as a starter :)

steady run - ? sticking to speed limits and realistic accel. overtaking.
spirited road - ? having fun ;)

Z3M Last Sunday out and about in Welsh Wales covered 270 miles with a mixture of steady cruising and red lining (prob 70/30) all on A & B roads, did 28mpg on roughly half the mileage 31mpg on the other, this was the first time I had checked it properly, well chuffed!

I'm using an Android app called "fuelio" and that is currently giving me an average 26.9mpg.

Usually have OBC on mpg and have noticed top down knocks about 1.5-2.0 mpg off.

I have to agree!:)

Tony.

Don't give a hoot what I get to the gallon, bought it to enjoy. When it's empty I just fill it again. Happy days.:racecar:

yes, also agree, but keeping an eye on it could give an indication of a problem manifesting if it suddenly goes out.

True mate, but your wallet will tell you the same info.lol:thumbsup:=))

Tony.

Never trust a fuel gauge on a Z3...
don't say things like that, I use my gauge to decide when I need more fuel, usually its on the line at the end (my bulb blew due to constant use) I used to wait till light on then I would go about 50 miles then fill up but now I just wait till its on the line:nailbiting: no crap in my tank, I have sucked it through:ymalien:

I too use the gauge to tell me and after checking for the first few months don't bother anymore but have a friend that has spread sheets that show where every penny has gone! I'd rather be driving than keying into a computer!!
