For the cost of doing it, I think I'd take the number off the car now. Presumably you can re-transfer it if the car gets repaired and if it gets written off you'll still have your cherished number on retention.
Thanks - Had seen that, but, being an engineer and that the answer isn't in the first para, I hadn't made it to the important bit at the bottom.
).I was seriously considering that and getting the original plates back to the dealer. However, the insurance have accepted they have no interest in the plate and will allow it to be put on retention. For the cost of doing it, I think I'd take the number off the car now. Only want BMW involved because of the folding hardtop. One of the mountings has been pushed out of alignment and all the pump and control is right behind the bumper. That’s good but can you still get it to a repairer of you choice ?
Oh right that’s not good fingers crossed for youOnly want BMW involved because of the folding hardtop. One of the mountings has been pushed out of alignment and all the pump and control is right behind the bumper.
Finally got the car back a couple of days ago (minus an aerial which they had lost and not noticed - replacement posted to us the next day).Hope it all works out. I was not aware of the private plate thing but I guess it makes sense.
Well at least it is back. It really should not be such an inconvenience though. Finally got the car back a couple of days ago (minus an aerial which they had lost and not noticed - replacement posted to us the next day).
They couldn’t source the correct lower bumper panel so instead it has a different version that has a diffuser panel. Looks better in my opinion. Will get photos.
Nearly 6 weeks and £8k to fix - all rear panels including boot lid and boot floor replaced.
