I bought a pair of sports seats off @Low Rider and am about to start refurbing them before I fit them in my car. I recently did a repair to my seat bolster of my original drivers seat with one of the repair kits from Ebay and I'm very happy with how it turned out and this has given me confidence that I'll do a good job with my new seats.

I had a good look at @Antm72 seats while we were on the Derby run and I'm going to do mine "2 tone" too, but I'm going beige and black

I'm looking forward to seeing them Gary. Before and after photos

OK after yesterdays diaster and several messages with Ant I'm back on track. Theres no evedeance of the water marks now, just went over it again this morning and its covered the marks up nicely. It is very forgiving stuff. I did the whole drivers seat in the sand beige but am going to re-dye the bolsters in dark beige and look to do the door cards in sand beige so all the spot effect areas are the same colour. And this all started because of this!

Wow that's a big improvement @Grumpy
Must be a relief for you after the rain tried to undo all your work yesterday .........did you send the rain south down the M1 by any chance ?......as I just got a coat of pollish on Bob and the wet stuff decided to fall from the sky :meh:......so had to quickly get the cover back on again till it stopped.

So you don't need an air brush with this stuff? Just a sponge and you get that finish? Looks good despite 'operator error' by @Grumpy ;)
I really should get on with it especially as mine are black so got to be even easier...

No, you don't need an airbrush. You actually get more of the dye on with the sponge and it dries really quickly too and you can make even quicker if you use a hair dryer or air gun

I've been using the hair dryer, not mine as most will know! 5 minutes later you can put the next coat on.

I agree with you - I have seen that some of the tutorial videos show them using a hairdryer or heat gun to help accelerate the drying process but I always find that it can distort the colour or leave a naff finish. I've done lots of re-dying on my 2 Zeds and I always find it is better to let it dry naturally.

Yeah, I'll do that. I've just sorted the dye which should be here before next weekend

You are right there bertie. When I did the repair on my old seat I got a shiny finish, but I found that if I turned the heat down and waved the hair dryer, ie don't let the heat concentrate on one spot, you will get the desired result.

If you are doing the whole seat though I would imagine the bit where you started will be dry when you get to the last bit, so you could probably just go for a cuppa then come back and put another coat on

I used a hair dryer on mine with out any issue in finish but it goes without saying you don't want direct heat but its very clear when it drys as its colour changes quickly.

Results look great. I must be doing something wrong as when I use the sponges I end up with aero effect if you know what I mean.
I have been rubbing it on rather than dabbing it Mark. Just been dabbing into the tight corners to ensure coverage.

You can brush it on too. Use a fine artist brush to get close to a seam if you have different colour panels

Looking awesome dave!
Thanks mate. A lot to do yet. Just been on to order some more but found the website a bit awkward so I'll ring on Tuesday. Just a friendly note. 65ml is £14. 250ml is £16.50. Even if you don't require that much it's worth buying the extra for touching up or passing onto a fellow zorger like Ant did with me. :)

Yeah it's difficult to sort on their website. But worth the effort!

Can you please send me a close up of the ostrich spots after covering @Grumpy? I will be putting on green leather covers and had planned on having the beige from the present seats sewn into them. They could use a touch up so just wondering if I'd also need to do the same on the doors. JIM

I like the look so will likely avoid the problem of sewing the originals in and just simply dye the centres of the new ones. Then I can just do the doors to match. Thanks, JIM
