When you go to the largest Telecom company in your country with a shop on the high street and buy a new mobile.

"Would you like to keep the number you have now?"
Yes please.
"OK. Right Sir, your phone will be active within about 8 days."

What the fmuck am I supposed to do now, use smoke signals?

Least we'll all get a rest  :);) =)) :ymdevil: :D
:nailbiting:

modern technology for you. relies on human input.

You have a mobile phone!! :wideyed:

When we moved to our bungalow :p
We had to wait 5 weeks for a phone line connection
Then about another 2 weeks for the Internet :(

8 days, stupid.
almost, in fact no - more stupid than the person (not mentioning gender) on the checkout at my local Morrison.
a couple of days ago i was paying for some shopping - around £68
i paid £50 cash and said i would put the rest on my bank card, yes thats fine they say.
so i put the card in and they say - DO YOU WANT CASH BACK o_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

Well your friends will get some peace Mike :whistle: Oh no, NO phone, does that mean you'll be on here more ....ranting .... =))=))

Should've gone to TESCO Mike, they moved all my numbers plus info over to my new phone while me and the boss did our weekly. 1hr later I could use the new phone with temp number and still use the old one as normal until they changed me over within 48hrs, actually took 26. Pain having two phones in my pocket though cos every time I undid my belt my trousers made a bee line for my knees. These new phones I find twice as heavy as my older smaller ones, think we've gone backwards in size. Ha ha ha that sounds a bit ominous. =)).

RHA, Roy.

When I changed my phone over to another one , they said it would take up to 24 hours to connect, but within a hour it was all set up :p
All my numbers, photos etc were all on my new phone ;)
Think your been done @hard top :(
Phone them up and see what is taking so long :)
O you can't as you haven't got a phone =))

I think its all down to people buying online these days as you can with this company KPN.
The shop is not what it used to be, its just one big glossy showroom now on the main street with just two very young girls stood behind little work stations.
They did not even have the phone I wanted on stock, said their next delivery was in two days.
In other words 'computer says no'.
So that was two trips to the shop.
Might as well do it all online and get it delivered to your door.

Or did you annoy someone?

Who me? .... :D
No, they just did not have the phone in stock and blamed me for asking to keep my old number, even though they offered the option ....
I am sat here with the phone just waiting for them to activate it.

Billy no mates ..... and it still not ringing :ymdevil:=))=))

Tony.

What, an old mate? =))=))

Tony.

Stay with Apple :p
You can't go wrong ;)

Have been looking at developing a widget for iOS and I can see extensive controls on what developers can access. Compared to Android I would say the security is far more robust. That is a real nuisance to me because what I want to do has those security barriers in place. :(
Of course, no software system can be 100% as recent issues have shown, but if information security is on you priorities then function over form should be considered.
