@Lee probaly a bit late but thought I’d mention it:
I loved the facelift interior but wanted a 2.8 so I bought a MK1 2.8 and swapped the interior from a 2.2 (it actually did take me much longer than you to do a whole engine swap!) but just saying, it was a little less intense

It's the rest of it mate, rare colour was in the last 3 months production run. I've already done the subframe and had the interior bits retrimmed in alcantara. Also a fresh roof. So much easier putting in an engine of my choice

Small update, We've spent the last two weekends stripping everything off the donor car, only trouble with this is we have stuff everywhere so trying to shift most of it on. You forget how much is packed into the into the zeds.
Now the engine and Ecu came out with no issues, to make sure we have all the bases covered we also removed the engine loom so we have all the right connectors. I have a bloke making a custom ECU with all the bits I want and removing other things like the ABS/DSC/ASC causing limp mode problems, He's also removing the EWS system and raising the rev limiter. For now I'm going to keep the stock manifold and throttle body. It's actually throttle cable operated so makes things simpler. If I can find another machine shop I might get the TB opened up another 2-3mm that made quite a difference on "oldguysrule" 2.8. The TB on the TU seems to be a one of a kind type due the crossover between pre and facelift models, so even though the car is a facelift it still has quite a few pre facelift features.
The areas I'm going to improve on are the engines characteristics, we took the flywheel off and stuck it on the scales and she came in at a heafty 10kg. Halving the weight would make it a nightmare to daily so I've gone for the S50 Z3M flywheel at 7kg this should give me the revy responsiveness I'm after because its carrying less inertia. Coupled with that is the free flowing exhaust manifolds with no Cats so I'm going to take advantage of this and have a complete system made to improve the flow straight from the manifolds
Now the icing on the cake is the diff. The 2.8 in the sienna had a final drive of 3.15, the 2.2 has a final drive of 3.38. That's a %10 increase on wheel torque between those diffs coupled with the extra 60bhp'ish should make it launch really well.
This weekend we have some minor tasks on the daily's but we will make a start on stripping Vixen ready for her engine. If anyone would like costs for these bits feel free to send me a PM.

Ooh the clutch and manifolds sound good, this engine just needs a bit more ‘M’ to it to come alive I reckon (but without the M tax!)
Is the S50 flywheel like the e34 M5 flywheel, I heard that was a good compromise?
Are all 2.8 a 3.15 diff?
I guess you’ll be doing a sports cat? Very keen to see how this turns out, sounds like it’s going to be a mini M..

Don't think all 2.8s came with LSDs, it was an option I think. The facelift 6cyl models had them standard I'm lead to believe.
Mines got a 25% LSD. What bhp you hoping to achieve mate???
Another update. Had the donor car collected today at the cost of £40 which suited me.
I made a discovery quite late on the Sienna was fitted with a 3.15 LSD so today quickly removed it. These pictures really show how crusty she is under there.
I know you'll all moan but I let it go with brand new shocks they're so cheap it's not worth the hassle. To speed things up I cut through the drive shafts and surprised to see they were solid.
I did pull the springs out because they were new and sports. Made the car look very funny.
So here's the diff, looking a little crusty round the edges.
Run the top number in Realoem and it confirms its the 25% locking lsd. Not sure what to do with it just yet. Might be kept as a spare.
Tomorrow will see the start of Vixen having her engine removed, we'll take a casual pace as I'm still waiting on parts to arrive. So tomorrow we'll get the engine ready to lift at least.

I'm focusing on how it feels and the way it goes. So it will likely pull like an M, we'll see.
Today we started on Vixxen 
Basically all the air intake and fuel system from the top of the engine. Next session will be taking the front bumper & slam panel so we can continue to disconnect and finally remove the engine!
