#ZedShed Project Vixen - Sterling Grey Z3 2.8 Sport+

Lovely to see a group of fellow Zedding enthusiasts getting together to sort out someone's car, it's what this site is all about. Nice to see another great car back on the road. Love it to bits Shortie Girl.

@hard top's quote: "Good stuff, you lot made that look easy putting the other soft top on, Frankie's thread, a while ago now, made it look like a right SOB."

You're so right!!!! The first one's always a bi@@h! This was compounded by having to do it outside, and buying to wrong top. @GazHyde, how did you make out with the cables? Did you have the kind that had to be removed from their old brackets? Or was this a different top that this wasn't necessary? And the old caulk is a mess. I used the same new caulk in the white strip, I think from 3M. Frankie
Not sure buddy but I think they replaced the entire top, where you only replaced the cover

They did Hugh, frame complete with fabric covering, a simpler task, but still well done.

The other pressing matter to attend to on Vixen were the brakes which were shocking to say the least. So Lee stocked up at GSF with discs & pads all round. We also tidied them up with a quick coat of silver Hammerite paint.

Not a bad price overall at £138.15. That's Brembo discs all round, with Brembo pads on the front and Textar (GSF pattern part) on the rear and two new pad sensors. Receipt below...

Didn't really take many pictures as to be honest you probably know what badly corroded brakes look like by now if you've followed the Zed Shed Projects. Here are the few I took!

Nothing better than a delivery of new car parts!

For those that asked during a discussion on brake disc choice the other day, here is a close up of the quality coating on the Brembo hubs. These also don't come soaked in grease to stop them discolouring before they are fitted.

Off with the old, and you can see why it had trouble stopping... Front disc

Rear disc... This one looks like it's been stored in the sea for a couple of years :wideyed:

Obligatory test drive and bedding in of the new discs/pads, and Vixen now stops like a champ! Might have had a sneaky drive on the way back, and she drives exceptionally well for a 109k car - more like one with half the mileage. Smoothest Z3 I think I've ever driven - and that's quite a few now

New Stereo for Vixen. I can listen to music now! Even though the sound of her exhaust was nice its nice to have a sing song! Haha! Was a great price too! £75 plus £10 for the adapter cable; it has bluetooth for iphone and andriod. Hands free calling with speaker attachment and USB or AUX port. From Halfords
