#ZedShed Project Bluebird (Philip Baxters 3.0 Zed)

Brings back memories. Phil's going to be made up.

Thank you guys for tonights update. Your work looks fantastic, as usual.
I am getting very excited now, and it's nothing to do with christmas. ;)

Small update tonight. The rear beam is back in its home and fitted. Gary didn't make it tonight because he decided to join the carpark on the A34 :p So i had the help of @Oldguysrule

Diff bolt torqued up and main beam bolts torqued up so she can hang on her own. You can see the new rear disks also the drop links and new eibach springs. Most of it is just loosely sat in place ready for thursday.

This image really shows how stiff the bushe should sit once torqued up.

We also replaced the Guibo commonly known as the flex disk. The one i removed was the BMW original. Looking slightly tired but still had plenty of life left.

Old springs are in good condition and being sent to help another forum member.

Eibach springs next to the standard sport springs.

Stay tuned for another update on thursday.
Are the springs stock? I ask because when we took my rears off at the weekend everybody looked astonished at the thickness of them, the little sticker looks the same to me on the ones you've removed from Phils car .

Hello mate, they're a fair chuck of metal then. We thought they were heavy duty ones. The replacements are quite a bit thinner.

Yeah Philips eibachs were the same, Quite alot thinner.

Hi @Grumpy, the guy who fitted them said they were OEM BMW parts, but were now classed as budget parts. Hope that helps mate.
Alternatively ask someone who knows what they are talking about, i.e. Lee. =))

Excellent work. I do enjoy reading through and taking in the progress of each project

Those exhaust joining sleeves are excellent bits of kit and a good idea to use them Lee. However, stick with GSF ones, don't go cheap on them.

Tony.

Are the GSF ones better? They do seem really stirdy. only £4 each.

The ones you've used look like GSF ones Lee, 10mm bolts ?, the cheaper ened ones only have 8mm bolts and often strip the thread before really tightening the clamp. Having said that we do use windy guns for speed's sake.

Tony.

Top work boys

If I'd known you were THAT good @Lee I'd have bought my Spax and Bilsteins with me :D

That's an impressive list of improvements mate.

This is going to be one well sorted car. Excellent work

Great work cars looking very sorted should be a dream to drive when complete
