Pressure washers

I have a Nilfisk centennial with 10M quick connect hose. snow foam lance etc. Fantastic machine and had it a few years now, snow foam lance filter does need cleaning every 3-4 washes but that's easy. Wouldn't be without and it makes washing the cars so much easier, never had any problems with paintwork damage either.

Had a few karchers in the past and they have never lasted and always had problems with them.

I've got a Kranzle K7 or K10, Can't remember. Been under the bench in the garage for a few years now alongside a big Clarke jobby still in the box.

I do not like pressure washers. Even doing the job I do.

Your not tell first to mention the nilfrisk @g8jka. The 10m hose and snow foam lance certainly appeals. May I ask what you paid for it?

Should have been £100 for the machine, but got it for £85 in one of the sales at homebase. Must have had it at least 3 years now and still going strong, I like the hose reel on it too its easier to store. I think I went for this because of something to do with the internals being metal rather than plastic on the cheaper karcher ones. The Aldi/Lidl ones are also decent and usually have a 3 year warranty although its a bit harder to find the right connections if you want a longer hose and foam lance.

Another vote for the Nilfisk, recommended on most of the detailing forums too. I bought my lance and snowfoam from autobrite.

This one any good? Got some pennies for Xmas so ready to buy.

You can get a "refurb" karcher direct from their website... They are usually returns just tested and repackaged... The prices are really good and they are guaranteed. If you get an older model the prices can be really good. It's a well respected brand but I agree with not blasting a z3 with one... Have to be mindful of water the best of times in my opinion.

Thanks. It's for the wifes 4x4 more than anything else.

Nilfix every time, and dont skimp you get what you pay for. that 110 a very good price, i had the next model up from it and used it every day for 5 years with no problems except for a seal that went on the pump which was repaired cheaply. It now over heats and cuts out if used for a long time so is kept at home for cars etc. The replacement is a nilfix poseiden??? cost over £400 i thnk but well worth it

I decided to go up a notch and get the 130 instead of the 110. Comes with all the lance stuff and snow foam thingy plus 8m quick real hose. Looking forward to getting it now and trying it on Jues Freelander. Happy Christmas to me! :)

No more than 45 degree angle on to the Paint Dave!

And no closer than 2ft. Oh, and don't use the path cleaning jet!;)

Tony.

if you do buy a Karcher Pressure washer, of interest Karcher make pressure washers for all the Diy outlets, B&Q and wickes etc, these are not as good as the one you'd buy direct from them or from the main Karcher dealer,
most have the same connectors but have a lot of subtle differences.
So in some cases if things go wrong its difficult to get spares, I found this out the hard way.
As previously stated Pressure washers are for vans and drives ONLY,
it can remove metal and paint from Classics and older cars, i know :(:arghh:

I won't, promise :). It won't be used the zed other than the wheels. It's for Jues wheel arches more than anything and now the focus wheels as they are a right t*** to clean!

??????, so Van paint is better than car paint then?

why do you think there are so many £5 car washing outlets that use pressure washers, and they are industrial. I don't see a queue of people with damaged cars, but i do see a queue of people waiting to use them and go back to them time and time again.
I have used pressure washers on my cars for years. If the paint is good it is no problem.
I also use it to blast the roof every time as well.
If the paint and preparation is crap it will take it off.

like previously said the problem is normally with the operator, not the tool.
Just be sensible, use the fan spray and not the jet.

That is very similar to the one I have, used it on the zed for all the time I have had it which is probably about 4 or 5 years now and never had any issues with blasting the paint off. I just don't use the jet attachment on it. I use it at all angles and get right up close at times. If the paint is decent on the car you won't have any problems at all. The snow foam lance you get with it is pretty crap, you are better off getting a proper one but these need the filter descaling every so often which is easy to do, or wash it through with hot water after ever use and they don't clog up as often. They are only about £20 on eBay.
