I have *that*... only at low speed, and only if I release the accelerator sharply or JUST when I apply power in first. If I drive 'smooth' it doesn't clonk. I'm used to it, but as the OP was saying, it's the only thing that isn't 'smooth' on my z3 driving.It could do that if you ease off the throttle and then back on it. You can normally pinpoint Diff. backlash by driving in a low gear and keep pressing and releasing the throttle sharply. You'll hear the "clunk" of the driving taking up the slack.
