Hi all

had a over heating problem for a while now.
So far I’ve replaced the expansion tank and thermostat.

seems to be steaming/leaking from underneath the expansion tank area but I cant Get under the car with ease.

any ideas what could be the problem?

when I replaced the thermostat, there was a small amount around connections which makes me think it’s been pooped for a while.

I’ll post some videos photos with the post.

Thanks

Ty

Since you replaced the tank leak could be from duff O rings in the coolant pipe hose, they could have reached the end of life or it may have been damaged when you reconnected it. Always use a drop of silicon spray to O rings before you fit the hose so they slide into place easier.

@colb nice thanks for the tip! I’m hoping it is just pipes that need doing also. I’ve managed to get some help Thursday to get under her so will find out then hopefully.

cheers

If it is cooling hoses been looking at the silicone upgrades but model/year wise they only state 95-99 can’t find any for 2001.

am I right in thinking these will fit anyway?

thanks

It may be a bit long-winded, but if you look up your own car on realoem there'll be a clicky bit that will tell you which other cars the hoses on your car are shared with. Once you've found the BMW part numbers you should be able to compare listings.

Still potentially leaking from bottom of expansion tank doesn’t look like it’s installing far enough the second o ring is still prominent as pictured.
