None, but a fast BMW bike instead!
Ty Gaz, posted in the wrong place really have put it in the Silverstone 2014 thread as well

Just out of interest I went to have a dekko at the Z1s as well and they were indeed a bit sniffy...each to their own is obviously a byword for them....lol...felt really sorry for the guy with the hearing aid beige one....Yuk...

Yeah, but I bet he'd rather have an awful beige one than a common old Z3.:ymdevil:

Yep...let's face if if they are sniffy enough to snub Rev with a Z8 what fecking chance do us lowly mortals with 3 and 4s have..... I am surprised I was even allowed to cast my eyes upon the mythical beasts......how dare I....I did hear one of the tartan slacked crew say "Oh Nigel, can you come over here there's a good fellow....I don't appear to be able to get it up again"........I took it that he was referring to his door:ymdevil:

So far, we have GazHyde and Rev who are keen to see the programme, which is the subject of Aceman's thread. Can add myself to that list (except, bit of a bummer, I don't have 'Sky'/Virgin' so can't get the Discovery Channel :().

Anyone else out there keen to see what happens to a member of our Z roadster family?

A snob is a snob wherever you find one to be fair. I've never seen a Z1 in the flesh (or ones owner) so I'm looking forward to see Edd get his hands on one. In general I don't like "plastic" cars. We used to have a Scimitar in for service and test every year, I could never get to like it. It wasn't a "kit" car but they just don't feel right to me. So I'm reserving judgement at least until I see one close up even on TV.:)

Is that where a wrap would be in order to preserve the original and please the eye at the same time. Forgive me if I'm intrigued by this wrap thing as it's just not common here and I'm very curious!

Could well be Jim but from what I here Z1 owners wouldn't do that.

Wrap...... That is.

I didn't stay around to look...the hearing aid beige one had made me feel ever so slightly nauseous.....just think...someone actually CHOSE that colour!!!!! It was probably called Cappuccino or something similarly (in those days) pretentious.....I have just stopped and wondered why I am giving Z1 owners a kicking....I am sure their mothers love them...and no I am sure none of them are called Oedipus......

The fact that so few people ordered that colour probably makes it one of the rarest Z1's built. If you were around back then, think of some other makers using the same colours in differing shades on their cars. Colours go in cycles so expect it to return to haunt you. I for one would have it in any colour but that's just me. JIM

Hi guys,
I was at the z fest in my z1 and hope I was very approachable.
Had lots of conversations, especially how the doors worked.

Welcome Brian!

I'm a Z1 fan and not met an unapproachable Z1 owner yet, and I've met a few :). In fact I've talked with the Car Clubs Z1 registrar to try and organise a few potentially interesting gatherings if we can. I'll be posting up some more details if we get things organised.

Cheers, Gary

Greetings Brian,

Welcome along.

I may have chosen an inopportune moment or 5, but I tried hard to speak with several owners during the day. They were probably fed up with being quizzed to death, but I was seriously interested and so did try and persevere. Truly!! I kept going back, but zilch!!

I'd have enjoyed a guided tour of the cars and was interested to know if the rumours of difficult parts was a truth or myth. Much easier with a car in front of you to explain parts that go wrong or bits that are difficult to obtain. The good the bad and the ugly so speak.

If I'm there next year I'll try again.

Post a few pictures and show us your pride and joy please.

:)

I very much doubt they knew that mine was the Z8 as I didn't hang around the car that much.

I'm also probably not what you'd expect an archetypical Z8 owner to be (if there is such a thing). More "Wurzel Gummidge" on a bad day than James Bond!

Probably why they gave me the cold shoulder thinking about it!

;)
