Oh Dear.

If I'm honest I think Plod has better things to do unless they see it as outright dangerous.

I totally agree.

It's all just another revenue scheme if you ask me, cameras easy to dish out fines.

But phone users are a real pain, no excuse for that, driving is dangerous enough without not looking where you're going.

what about holding and smoking a lit cigarette?
Why is that OK yet a mars bar isn't?

A few years ago a colleague returning to the depot on entering the office says he was pulled by police aft e r coming off a roundabout , we all said how fast were you going he replied not for speeding, it seems he was drumming on the top of the steering wheel and moving in time to the music on the radio , warned he could be fined for driving without due care and attention , sorry officer won't happen again and turned off the radio .
We took some convincing but he insisted it really happened the police car had camera's and ariels and blue lights and all

Having watched from the passenger seat as the driver dropped a lit cigarette into their lap and then fight to find it and get rid of it by wildly thrashing about with both hands before flames took hold while driving at 30mph, I think that there is good reason not to smoke.

There's already a massive number of distractions in most cars, I don't think eating a chocolate bar is an issue. However, they're not the easiest of things to open requiring both hands.

As indicated, bananas can be opened using one hand and teeth. So, does doing opening a banana or mars bar pose a danger. For some I suspect it will - The thought of somebodies top-set flying out and getting stuck under the brake pedal would be difficult to explain in court. =))

I could make a roll-up, as could my old man and my grandfather whilst driving. Never had an accident, carnage everywhere else though =))

So common sense is still something you can use then Mac? Good to hear mate.

Tony.

As for the £200 fine if the camera catches a driver eating or smoking...that's fake news. You can't be fined for either, they could only be contributory factors for other offences.

I always said my mate would be killed by smoking. He was.... he was knocked down by a bus when he went to pick a dogend out of the gutter.
