You can change the switch without removing the steering wheel I didn't take mine off when I fitted obc to the Dakar
all done fitted the stalk this morning found it easier to remove the steering wheel as its not in the way... went for a run today to hereford round trip about 60 miles... did try altering the KVBR setting from 1000 to 900 and the obc was reporting better economy more like what i am getting

Anyone with a 1.9 m44 with an OBC fitted like to comment on what their KVBR setting is ?

@Stevo7682 Last few days when I've been fiddling with my centre console, I installed the OBC, a second hand unit which I picked up.

The clock on the OBC works fine but I don't have a temperature sensor or the BC stalk so I'm unable to scroll through the different readings.

Interestingly I did see this thing about it having to be coded within the first 36 hours but don't know why you have to do that...
Hey Faheem! I’m trying do this set up but I don’t know and can’t find a connection behind the centre console . What does it look like please? I’m going mad here. After fumbling about for over an hour ( removed the radio ) and gong in from the sides I’ve only managed to pull out this . What is this? May be my 1999 M44 1.9 doesn’t come with the wiring. I managed to install the temp sensor with no worries. Any help greatly appreciated . Thank you!

Hi @lalinsorinoco, this is going back several years but if I remember correctly the plug I needed was tucked away behind the centre console. I had to remove the console to find it and it was on the far left hand side.

I think the plug is of a similar style to those found behind the instrument cluster. Similar to attached but much smaller and black if I remember correctly.

Mine is a 1997 so would have thought yours should have it as the looks used were probably the same.

@Faheem Thanks for this! Yes, I could not find mine easily as it was tucked away under the carpet. It has the locking lever like your diagram, and I had a nightmare locating it, just fiddling about. Ultimately, I had to remove the console. Not a lot of fun, as it was not straightforward for a newbie dabbler like me.
It's there now and the clock is showing the time, but I have not fitted the stalk yet.
So, for now, I have fitted the temp sensor (easy job) and the clock (nightmare)
Thanks again for the reply. Much appreciated.
