I've seen your car a couple of times as it's been progressing and can agree that Russell is proffessional and enthusiastic about cars in general and paint detailing especially looks great and you are obviously very pleased with the results.

Great to bump into you a few weeks ago Brian. Russ's place is getting a bit like Piccadilly Circus

I know lots of people do some of this for themselves. To do it to this extent though requires dedication and many many hours of free time. I simply don't have the patience. I'd probably ruin the paint in pretty short order. I will get around to doing some mechanical stuff but much better to let an expert do this. Short of a full strip down and respray, it really couldn't be better. Top job and such a nice enthusiastic chap to work with!

Russ has been doing this for many years, day in, day out on some very expensive cars too. I won't hesitate recommending Russ, but, I'm sure when anyone interested has taken a look at my car in upcoming meets that results will speak for themselves and there will be a queue of people wanting to move their car up a notch at Russ's door very soon. Russ has used top quality products including a sealant that seems more expensive than gold! I couldn't believe how much a tiny bottle of the stuff costs

All sorted for months to come before any further waxing needed. And, unlike Gaz, mine didn't need washing as soon as I got home - Result ;)

Looks fantastic Russ, great job. Now Ian you just have to keep it that way;)
I'll try, but while its not a daily use car, it gets used 50% of the time. This will help keeping it clean enormously though.

Indeed - I've always has admiring looks and really positive comments about the colour combo, but I suspect certain people we know will really be trying to take off in my car

If your at ZEDfest we can block you in so he can't help him self.
He knows who he is.
I expect he'll be along soon enough Ian =))

One happy bunny!!! :)
I was just too stunned to talk when I picked the car up and didn't thank Russ properly. I'll be doing some more pics shortly with a full write up of the experience and results!

Russ - Thanks. Thanks. Thanks. I'll be toting my ride around to get you some more business!!!
Thanks too to Deb for being taxi driver (and presumably provider of tea at appropriate times.

Back soon
Well if you want a bit more work Russ? You can put my E89 down for a session?

Wow Russ, so happy to know my first Zed is so well loved and cared for and in expert hands. I am currently having work done on Sharky my S54 Mroadster. Awesome inspection 2 done by LBM BMW specialists at Lincoln. Engine sounds superb. They have done quite a few other bits too. I hope to have steered him towards a complete overhaul structurally and mechanically by the end of the year. ( Not me personally LOL) He is going to Metal Magic in August for a wheel refurb as they have had some great reviews for doing a near shadow chrome finish. I believe health and safety have banned companies from using the original process and materials used on the S54 Mroadster alloys. When that is all sorted I might have to procure your expert services LOL x

Always interested in a session with a Zed Mike.

Is it a bit far for you though?
Only 119 miles Russell if you are CV9! I can be there at 6am if you fancy an early start. Only problem is not this week end as we are at Beaulieu

Hi Mike,

Best get a hotel sorted.=))
That kind of work on Ian's Zed was 70+ plus hours and Needs 12 to 24 hours for sealants to cure in the dry.

If your'e up for that and the price that goes with it then I would love to have a look at your Zed.

That sounds expensive Russ, had not thought about a hotel for that long. I'll get back to you, may well have to get off my arse and do it myself. Made a start but have not got a paint thickness gauge so guessing. Any thanks.

Might come over for a drive and a chat if that's ok. If so PM me your address and we'll arrange a day.

Mike

Mike,

It is expensive although cheaper than a respray.
Please please please don't guess on paint.
Especially on water based paint like you have on your E89. ( Thin Paint)
Only heartache is at the end mate. Worth popping down just to check on paint thickness.
You are very welcome anytime mate as any regular member is.
Even if just to check the Thickness of the paint and give you a guide. (All that's free buddy)

My postcode is CV13 6EU.
Willow Park Industrial Estate.

Thanks Jim. So pleased you like it. Blue sky certainly helps the blue but, it changes depending on the angle you're viewing it from.
Just a couple of minor dents to get pulled out.
That and a few other bits

Your car and @Sean d 's blue cars are awesome and I may need to revise my thinking after all these years. One thing I really like about the base/clear paint jobs is the ability to create such colour changes with the metallics, metalflake and pearls available and Russ appears to know how to bring out the best in them. Would love to see them all in person!! JIM
