That looks superb Russ. Hoping to have a go at mine soon with Ants guidance. Had mine painted 3 years ago and it's looking dull in places. I am well known for my gentle approach to things, I think 5 minutes with a DA and my Zed would be a lovely shade of primer!

Wow @Russell O that looks like a real result, I love Montego Blue when it's all polished up properly, it really Pops. Ian will be really proud of his Zed now, he'll be parking in fields with electric fences round his car. LOL
What grade of wet and dry do you use?

Mike

Hi Mike,
Different grades for different jobs to be honest,
Normally 1500 moving to 2500 then compound from their,
Sometimes a denim pad and I have some 4000 grit pads for the DA that are great for Orange peel.

Even use a 4000 pad and other secret stuff on it sometimes.( Not telling).......:shy:

One happy bunny!!! :)
I was just too stunned to talk when I picked the car up and didn't thank Russ properly. I'll be doing some more pics shortly with a full write up of the experience and results!

Russ - Thanks. Thanks. Thanks. I'll be toting my ride around to get you some more business!!!
Thanks too to Deb for being taxi driver (and presumably provider of tea at appropriate times.

Back soon

OK - lets put something down about the experience and results!

Having seen Russ working on @GazHyde's car a few weeks ago I asked Russ to comment on my car and give me an indication of what he could do. To be up front, I expected to pay for the work and Russ gave me a very good price considering what I've heard others to pay. I won't say how much because that's unfair on Russ for future work - every car is going to be different and need differing amounts of work, so, the price will change. So Russ quoted for a complete make-over and included some work on the hood, added in some cleaning of the stitching on the seats and roll-over hoops etc.

The paint, while it came up nice and beaded beautifully when wet, it had extensive minor and some major scratches all over. In addition, there was a big bit on the rear bumper that we couldn't work out if it was something on the paint or scratched into the lacquer.

I dropped the car off the day before we went on holiday and picked it up three weeks later - a perfect way of getting the work done. I can see from other posts that he's had a couple of visitors while I've been away and they've done a few jobs on @Low Rider's car in the mean time. I have no idea how much time has been spent but I suspect its in excess of 60 hours - probably quite a bit more.

So, how did it all work out? You've seen some pic son Russ and I'll add some here and some more in a few posts in a moment.
As he told me, some of the scratches were quite deep. Russ has been quite conservative in dealing with the worst of the marks. His experience told him that, while there was a good chance that they could be all but virtually removed, there is a distinct possibility of damaging the paint to a point where a respray would be necessary. Just not worth the risk, so, there are a few scratches that while markedly reduced, they still show a little. Not the end of the world. The overall effect is phenomenal!

Russ has also provided a panel by panel condition report showing total pain thickness and an assessment of if the panel has had any previous work done on it. It looks like a couple including the boot and rear bumper have indeed had some work. Believe me, I can only see that one has had anything done to it.

Also, his expert eye has picked out a couple of minor dings, only one of which I knew about. These can easily be fixed.

So, enough of the talk - so, lets have some pics!

And finally, just a few more....

In addition to all the attention to the paint, Russ also cleaned the glass including removing some of what I thought were scratches, repaired the passenger door mirror that I singularly failed to do myself, cleaned the exhaust tips and inside the exhaust itself, steamed cleaned the engine and probably a whole lot more.

I couldn't have asked for more. Brilliant job.
