Hi

I am Alan and live near Edinburgh in Scotland and as you can probably tell I am a big fan of MG. (all my Z3 pics are apparently too large to make an avatar and I've no idea how to sort that)
However, having absolutely hated the ugly Z3 when it was released I found myself becoming strangely attracted to them a couple of years ago. As it happened my friend's dad picked one up around that time and let me have a drive which finally persuaded me to buy one. I found a nice silver 2.8 locally but it was written off after a few months due to a very minor bump. The insurance were very generous so I set out to find another. It had to be a pre facelift 2.8 again, I found one that seemed a good buy; £3200 with 67k miles, including a hardtop and in very nice condition. in Atlanta Blue (I had wanted any colour but that but hey-ho I like it now). I have covered a few thousand miles now and it recently passed it's MOT with little trouble. I'am enjoying it even though it's a bit of a barge but at least with the recent drop in fuel prices I can even afford to run it a little! I am fortunate in that it isn't a daily driver as I don't think it's really suited to that.
I do have a few issues with leaking boot etc developing so I will have to seek your advice on those.

Hi Alan @Bailey20agd and welcome from me near Lincoln. Hope this one lasts better than the first one mate. Old MG's are fine to look at Z3's much nice to drive though.;) I've tried both. I felt the same about the Z3 when it first came out, I didn't like it at all but maybe that was because I thought that I would never get to drive one? Didn't like the Z4 that much either, but guess what .............................. and I love it!:D

Tony.

Hi and welcome from me in Hertfordshire, never heard any one refer to a Z as a barge before. Why not try it on your local canal, might even float for a second or so.=)).

Thanks folks for your greetings. I will have fun trawling through the old threads gleaning what info I can about these cars. I remember when I started out with MGF I was never off the forum. lol

Welcome from Glasgow too Alan.

I've just sold my Hillman and I'm in the market to replace it with something. Not sure what yet though.
