However, having absolutely hated the ugly Z3 when it was released I found myself becoming strangely attracted to them a couple of years ago.
That's exactly how I remember their release. A friend of a friend was so into them many years ago, talking about this and that and all I could think about was my RX7 and how ugly the Z3 actually was! That was 11 years ago!

Must have finally moved into almost adulthood lol!

Hi

I felt the same when they were released, I remember saying to my friend about then looking retro at the time when the rage was modern cars.

Now I think many people are getting bored of the modern stuff, emissions controls, bonnet heights, noise controls etc etc...

Over the last few years I found myself admiring the Z3's thinking they'll surely become a classic one day, add the fact they're fun to drive, easy to repair, have a German badge, and absolute minters can still be bought for sensible money, I had to find one for my garage.

I'm hearing so many instances nowadays about modern cars, "oh sir, you have to remove the engine to replace that part"

Hi

I am Alan and live near Edinburgh in Scotland and as you can probably tell I am a big fan of MG. (all my Z3 pics are apparently too large to make an avatar and I've no idea how to sort that)
However, having absolutely hated the ugly Z3 when it was released I found myself becoming strangely attracted to them a couple of years ago. As it happened my friend's dad picked one up around that time and let me have a drive which finally persuaded me to buy one. I found a nice silver 2.8 locally but it was written off after a few months due to a very minor bump. The insurance were very generous so I set out to find another. It had to be a pre facelift 2.8 again, I found one that seemed a good buy; £3200 with 67k miles, including a hardtop and in very nice condition. in Atlanta Blue (I had wanted any colour but that but hey-ho I like it now). I have covered a few thousand miles now and it recently passed it's MOT with little trouble. I'am enjoying it even though it's a bit of a barge but at least with the recent drop in fuel prices I can even afford to run it a little! I am fortunate in that it isn't a daily driver as I don't think it's really suited to that.
I do have a few issues with leaking boot etc developing so I will have to seek your advice on those.

I bought the same car 6 months back. 2.8 Wide body manual 6. I have not looked back. Mine is not a daily driver either. Living in Los Angeles I try to drive as little as possible. One of advice is treat the plastic with care. My subwoofer box lid cracked with a lite touch as did my rear window. The lid is not an easy part to find and both I imagine will be around $200. But you really can't put a price on how much I love the car and how much fun it is, especially in L.A where the top comes down frequently!
