Well its been a while and finally had time to fit one of the seats, thanks to @t-tony for the seat lift kit, works a treat. So all in all under an hour from start to finish (just the drivers) and no nasty dash light surprises at the end. Going to get the Passenger seat in next week, sorry for the bad quality pic will take some more when both seats are in.

Hey Andy, glad you like them. I've been driving my Z3 this week while I've had the 4 in bits and I do still like the seat lifted up that bit!.:)

The old seat was jammed up at full height, which meant my head was touching the roof, not great when its cold outside. The new(ish) one is on the lowest setting and the front lift is spot on, did you have another kit available?

Bit of a set back, just looking at the seat wiring I can't find the mat occupancy wires. Im guessing this was one reason the seller got rid in the first place, dooh. I can use the mat from my seat but it seems a bit of a pain is there any other way around this?

Just spoke with the seller, looks like he was using an emulator on the sensor. All this means is the seat mat is fooled into thinking the seat is occupied. So looking on the net the occupancy mat detects how the air bag is deployed, this leaves me wondering about changing the mat from my seat or using this emulator fix.

Any ideas about this from a safety stand point, I was also reading that BMW had problems with this system which led to a recall. One of the problems was the seat mat deteriorated and gave a fault code disabling the air bags. Also the mat code to the air bag system would make a connection but in some cases would not deploy.

The seat re-colour has come out very well, a lot better than the drivers obviously due to limited use, so I want to use the seat. Just need to make sure the safety issue is not compromised.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi got the last post wrong, there was no passenger air bag in the sellers car, hence no wiring in the seat. So will fit with an emulator while I strip the mat from my old seat. If that fails I will have air bag the system re-coded, can't think of another way around this at the mo.

Well the emulator arrived today, plug and play and it shows the seat as occupied, so when it stops raining I will change the seat over and remove the mat for fitting in the new seat.

Finally got the passenger seat in, all in all a very easy job quite surprised but happy. Just pm,d @Aceman for a bushing kit figured I may as well do them very slight movement in the drivers. Will put my old seats in classifieds soon see if anyone wants vinyl, still have to connect the heated switches but will change the head unit and do both together.
