New project 2.8

That seal looks a lot thicker than the one on Dawns?

Also the light unit is a good fit on the face of the boot lid too Sean. I think that's where the main issue is on Dawn's car even though it's a "Genuine" part. Is the gasket made of cork?

Tony.
The gasket is made of rubber pal, the hardest part is crushing it between the lens and the boot lid, the main body on the inside snaps onto the lens and is very precise not even 1mm in it, if it's not snapped on precisely the light bulb holder will not fit properly

The gasket is rubber. I have a new lens cover - another new one - awaiting my collection locally.

Do I need another new gasket @Sean d ?

I think they’ll be the same Paul. Collected mine from Soper. Wondering if I need another new one as I have another lens cover awaiting my collection.

I wouldn't think you need another one . What was the problem with yours as I thought Paul was fitting it at Tony's when I left

The lens is bowed in the middle was the conclusion.

I’m making a note of this advice!

The gasket now supplied is a completely different profile to the original. Much more bulky. It's an absolute b*gger to press in properly so the lens sits fully flush.

I thought the original was the same profile but got flattened in the fitting process

I think you covered the problem Sean "Paul was fitting it"

Last bits painted today, I am going in on Monday to bolt it all together and it's done,
