My Z4 ........................... My Way (Part 2).

Thanks Tony , might use the 74 mil , do the prongs line up or did you cut them off and stick on the badges ? Ps beautiful Z unusual colour . Thanks John

Looking very good, I put them on the sides on my E85, always thought it looked to slabby, they break it up nicely, makes the car look far better. Still think you should use chrome wheel bolt covers just for the bling factor to set the whole package off.

If they don't line up just cut them off flush and use a good quality double sided tape. I use 3M brand.

I may well still get some chrome bolt caps Col. I haven't had chance for the black ones to really grow on me yet mate, we left for a family wedding a day after I got them.

Tony.

I got these chrome wheel bolt caps this week and put them on today. @colb I think you're right these have the edge.

Also this week, in between some other jobs I had the rear windows tinted slightly too.

I used to work on those many years ago, and Hunters, Avengers, Sunbeams even Imps :arghh:

Yep Chrylers quality control was quite lacking.

Back to some car related jobs today after wood butchery all week. New front discs and pads on a mate's Kia Sportage this morning, plus check rear discs and pads (these will wait a while), maybe a job for when the Boss is in Florida early next year. Tyre pressures checked and adjusted.

After lunch and collecting the owner I decided to get the oil and filter changed on my Z4. After warming the engine up I closed the doors and raised the car amongst the rafters which works well with convertible cars, I had another mates 1 series Vert on the lift the previous week to locate a brake warning light problem. Here you can see how altering the garage door lifting gear made best use of the lift.

Dropping the oil into my homebuilt drainer,
20221126_151608.webp

Then leaving it to "drip" while removing the old filter (I always loosen the filter cap to allow the bowl to drain down into the sump).

The new seals which came with the filter, you don't always get the small (green) "O" ring, but always get the copper washer for the sump plug.

New filter in the pre cleaned housing ready for refitting.

Then 7 ltr. of Shells Finest (3 for next time) and the type of filter which are my "go-to" brand.

Plug refitted and undertray panel. Oil refilled and run up.

....... till next time.

My first car is in the background with the bonnet up (typical). It was a white 15 year old 1966 Rover 2000 with 45,000 miles on the clock. Had a bit of a love/hate relationship with that damn car . . . (Soz, that was a comment on Pauls post)

Today I've been back to see the man who did my window tint. He said give it a week or so and if anything needs fettling give me a ring.
I went over it very closely and found a very small air bubble at the bottom of the HRW grille, a touch of warm air and it was gone.
20221201_145734.jpg

On the drivers window I spotted a tiny hair, or fibre of some sort and then I couldn't "un see" it.
20221128_161757.jpg

So he kindly re tinted the window.
20221201_145720.jpg

And all gratis!
After servicing the the engine on Saturday I could not get the service lights and intervals to re set no matter how it tried to do it. Anyway, and don't ask me how or why, but after another session they're all back to set again.

My 2011 E89 didn't come with puddle lights in the doors or footwell lights. I bought some footwell lights last year and are on my "to do" list. The puddle lights I bought before Christmas I got one side fitted today. These don't require any wiring are quite good in that if you the leave the door open they switch off after about 30 seconds or so. No mention of this in the "instructions". Totally reversible using double sided tape for fixing the light and the magnet which switches the light off.
Also the "logo" is removable and you can order pretty much what you want on it. As you can see I didn't go with the BMW logo.

It took a little trial and error to get the magnet in the right position but easy enough. There is a manual switch to turn them completely off when you want to. I thought they were worth a go for £17.99 from Amazon. You can also buy separate "slides" with different logos.
