Well I'm not saying you may not have a central locking issue as well. But if it's not working with the key you have mechanical issue you need to look at first.
I had the same problem Dawn and replaced the actuator and its been fine ever since GeoffI use the key and it chooses when to lock or unlock. If I rely upon central locking, the boot will be insecure and is able to be opened by anyone. Hence using my key.
The Actuator - coming to a cinema near you soon!I had the same problem Dawn and replaced the actuator and its been fine ever since Geoff
No Tony. When I push the button, it feels like it’s stuck. So, it’s the locking and unlocking which is intermittent. You can always open the boot by pushing the button?
Tony.
Now that’s reminded me: a wee while ago I was over at the bodywork place and the boot wouldn’t open. One of the guys got it open and pulled a cable (I think?) which was hidden inside the boot lid and located closeby the internal aspect of the lock and it opened and closed as a result. If it’s a mechanical problem it’s possible that the catch on the boot lid is not returning to the correct position to allow the central locking solenoid to operate the locking device.
Tony.
It’s the electrical component that moves a rod backwards and forwards to operate the lock operationThe Actuator - coming to a cinema near you soon!
Hahaha! Couldn’t help myself!
So, what’s the actuator?!?
I would agree so if actuator is removed it should come out with the small connecting bar and the push button should work. Maybe the body shop doing the respray did not put it back correctly if it was me I would go back to them and see if they would sort itIt's possible the actuator is a pass-through for manual key operation (can't remember - it makes sense). If so I guess if it jams it affects manual operation as well. But that would make it a mechanical not electrical (ie loom) fault.
Errr...is this true @Grumps ?
Tbh, I’ve virtually no radio since the bodywork was done and I had an issue with the bonnet and boot and I’m thinking that it’s because of the work done.I would agree so if actuator is removed it should come out with the small connecting bar and the push button should work. Pressed wrong button in error Geoff!? Why
You naughty person but it’s easy to doPressed wrong button in error Geoff!![]()
If I was round the corner I would come with you to get it sorted but if I were you you must take it back it’s not right that they have done such a bad put back together job and the Boss should know what has happenedThe body shop boss worked for a company that turned Thatcher’s limo into an armoured plated car and looked as it did before the work. A couple of other glowing accolades, too. When my car was in with the body shop, the third brake light got the inner strip that houses the bulbs split in two which, having always changed my own bulbs, I knew was in one in tact piece beforehand. I’m still miffed about this. They also somehow damaged the corresponding lens cover which means both have to be replaced. Yes, I’m a little disgruntled to find further niggles such as the boot issue.
That does not say much for the bossMight've been the Boss that did it?
Tony.
