Hi all.
After buying my humble 1.9 after much searching, although she is in great condition after just over one week I have done a few jobs Not that she needs much but so far .
A good clean paint work.
Leather seats cleaned conditioned.
Roof cleaned and reproofed.
Few tiny chips touched in.
Some of you may have read in recent posts it came with a fresh MOT and a full new exhaust and brake pads.
It had an advisory on very slight play on the bottom ball joints so I have ordered 2 outer bottom ball joints which are being fitted this Thursday I thought I might as well do them even though it's only slight play.
As far a service it was only done 2.5k ago so all good.
Few minor niggles left but no urgent ones.
3rd brake light does not work at all .Bulbs and holders look rusted so will buy new ones in the future and hope it works afterwards.
Terrible radio reception and only managed to get a couple of stations on the after market alpine . Can't even get Capital. Guess its the base aerial amp? CD works great.
Under the bonnet needs cleaning.
Still need decent quality floor over mats in the front.( not anymore )
So far all in all i'm happy.

Update
New 3rd brake light gasket fitted because of water ingress only time will tell if cured won't be to long with the weather we are having :( if all dry will look into new bulb holders and bulbs they really are rusted and see if I can get it working.
Had an advisory on MOT very slight play in bottom ball joints.
My mobile mechanic could only find the very slightest of play on the passenger side.
Not sure why the MOT stated both bit of a puzzle.
Just as well took him almost 3 hours to get the old one out and the new one back in what a pig of a job.
Can see why the whole arm is replaced that's what I would do in future if play is detected.
Lastly have had a light clean under bonnet just with a cloth nothing to severe did not want to soak under there.

Changed spark plugs today just as a precaution measure now we know they are new. Old ones looked good though nice greyish colour 2 tip came out.
Bosch 4 tip went in only the best.

Just a note on Bosch plugs. I read a long time ago on a US forum that they like to come loose over time.

I had had been using them for a couple years with no issue until one came loose. From the sound it made I thought something serious was wrong with the engine but a quick video diagnosis by Dr @Lee had me tightening the plug and noise gone.

Good plugs otherwise but just mentioning it in case. I never had a plug come loose on any car before these and it can sound rather scary when it does happen but it's a simply fix (BMW kindly left a plug spanner in the boot too for the job, clearly they anticipated this!)

I think the 1.9 gets a hard run at it. People talk about how good the 6 pot engines are, and they are fantastic but that 1.9 lump goes like a little pocket rocket when pushed, they are as quick as a golf gti which if you ask anybody about will tell you what a cracking engine they are.

Hey remember the M44 engine is lighter than the Six and as such the load on the front is more balanced to the rear so it will corner in a way the six has to be lowered to silly levels to achieve, (I know I did it). it is not all about power some of the circuits I have played on the kit cars with small engines run rings round the bigger engined cars, because they handle better.

I've driven a lot of cars in my day and the M44 handles about as good as any I've driven and I agree that too many people have to spend big money just to get to where the 1.9l is to start with. It revs like crazy and screams like a banshee yet never protests no matter how hard I drive it. JIM

Slowly Slowly
Lower front arm bushes now done.
New front tyres done.

Going into bodyshop next Wednesday to have both front lower seal inner lips repaired
It's only light surface rust bubbles on the inner edges but best to deal with it now as its minor.Winter weather won't help so best to deal with it.

Just leaves the 3rd brake light bulb holders need sorting.
Bad radio reception might try a new whip aerial first.
Not sure what the rear end bushes are like as not mechanics and can't afford a garage inspection so hope all is well.
Going OK and being used on regular basis long run to the Cotswolds on Sunday hope weathers dry. :3santas:

It won't be empty forever, enjoy using it while the funds grows again.:) I have a long list of things to do to my Z4, some expensive, some not. I will just take my time and tick them off one by one. Starting tomorrow with some nice new LED bulbs!

Tony.

May I ask what they charged for the sills?
