My Cheeky Boss

@Shelly there is a word in the english language that needs to be used a bit more often. For some reason we don't tend to use it enough. The word is,

NO!

Try it, its very satisfying sometimes and it earns respect.

Totally agree @smiffy and yet it is the word we hear the most in our lifetime, from birth to death so why is it so hard for us to say no when we know something is not right? JIM

I find it very hard to say No :p
As I like to make people happy :)
This might be a first for me ......... :)
And it's very hard to do :)
But I do want News Years Eve off this year ;)

Who is more important to you to make Happy @Shelly , you or somebody else.
Question answered so makes it easier to do say NO.

Have a great New Year

should also have been sorted months ago
Absolutely correct Brian. I have a boss like that, he's a T.... too. Don't give in to emotional blackmail Shelly, you've done your bit.

Tony.

@Shelly Its simple.. You say... Ok.. heres the deal... I have worked the last three festive breaks on christmas and new years eve.. Here is what I am going to do for you.. I will work Christmas eve... but new years eve... is a non - discussable subject.. do you understand... and that question mark is right where it should be.. because you sir have a problem.. You need to find someone to work it.. and it for sure is not going to be me.. !!! end of discussion. Which part of NO do you not understand.. The N or the O.... Simples.. the art of negotiation .. p*** off and find some one else.. This lady of having a night off... !!! PARTY !!!!!

Well said @pgunter :p
I'll have to keep this in mind when he asks me again :)

I don't want to pour gas on the fire, but my calculation looks that after three "rounds" you've won the right of free Winter holidays for the next two years! Dan

Merry Christmas Shelly and a well deserved New Year party !
Thank You for being the First Bell which launch birthday greetings to all of Us!
Wish you a great Year 2016!
Dan

Thank you very much for your lovely post @Zeti :p
Happy Christmas to you and your family too Dan :)
Happy and healthy new year ;)

so why cant your boss do it?
this year i was robbed of three days holiday, previous years the company gave us the days (usually 3) between Christmas and new year as a feebie, but this year they decided (in January) that we have to keep 3 days from our holiday allowance to cover, everybody kept 3 days back to cover and guess what, yep yesterday they came out cap in hand eerrrr can anyone come in on the 29th and 30th. Yeah right - do one. this might appear a bit militant but there is alot more to this, like we got stitched up on our overtime too plus a load more, this happened in January, there was a consultation period to apparently try to come to some middle ground, then after the 3 months consultation they decided to go ahead with it all regardless what we had put forward, and they used the consultation period as our notice of these changes (completely legal). BAH HUMBUG

You just can't get the staff these days! Happy Christmas everyone!:hohoho:
