Been driving a '76 MGB for years, now in the process of purchasing a '98 Z3. I wonder what differences will I notice. Have always done all of my own maintenance but it looks like the BMW is going to be a bit more complicated than the MG - at least I'll only need metric tools.

Not the most complicated of cars to work on, generally a standard set of tools will do the majority of the work.

Hi Trevor welcome to forum. You will find the z a bit more technical than the B and the engine compartment more cramped on the Z especially if your getting a 6 pot. But if you compare the Z3 to more modern cars it too is pretty simple.
